I think this is accurate for lindy. He's a 1c forsure, but not in the top half.
A legit contender could have lindholm as their 1c. But you would need a truly elite d man, winger(s) and goalie.

You wouldn't trade him for Matty Beniers!?

Lol, dumb argument. McDrai don't have their names on a cup. Doesn't mean you can't be on a contender, or be a 1C. There are many different teams in any given year that are contenders. Only 1 gets the cup.

Sure, and Jake Allen was a starting goalie last year on a team 1 year removed from a SCF appearance. Lindholm was also the passenger on his line when he was "a #1 center on a cup contender". Lol.

That’s a lot of teams that could use a Lindholm for 9 seasons.

what about Lindholm and one of our #10-15 ranked prospect for Wenneberg and Wright?
Imo you’ve got to deal Lindholm to get a prime prospect that has the potential to be a franchise player. Hard to find but they’re out there.

Does a lot of the dirty work in the D zone. Scoring 42 goals is quite the passenger.

Edit: 3 teams are represented twice on the list (EDM, PIT, NJD), which makes it a 17-team list... so 15 teams in this league don't have a C as good (or, at least, ranked as high) as our #1C.
|
Is there "a lot" of people here who think that? I suspect maybe 5-10 posters on all of CP. Maybe they're just loud.
But that shouldn't be confused with people questioning if the Flames should sign him for 8 more years, given his age, the other forward contracts we're already locked into and what this team needs to become a true contender.
It is possible he's both a real #1 centre and also not a good long term signing for this team.
I wouldn't take Malkin for 8 years and over $8M either.

I'm assuming you're talking about the season before last. 40 goals, second place to Bergeron in Selke voting. Is Bergeron also a passenger on his line with Marchand and Pastrnak?

Spends a lot of time in the D zone to do said dirty work, also put up 22 goals last year without the guys carrying him. Passenger or elite sniper? Who's to know?
I mean if I licked windows on a regular basis I would consider Lindholm a #1 C on a contender. Unfortunately he isn't a #1 C on a contender and the flames aren't a contender this year. That's why he is our #1 C.

Bergeron ended up with 1808 ballots worth of Selke votes, Lindholm ended up with less than half of that (878). That was lindholms best year.
How did Lindholm do this year? Well spoiler alert he actually finished lower than Backlund in voting lol. He was also beaten out by the corpses on skates of Staal and Kopitar.

This year was a statistical write off for almost everyone on the team. Any paperbag licking clown can see that.

20th seems pretty accurate. Good player but far from a dominant player. Solid support guy but probably isn't leading a team to a Cup as the 1st or 2nd option.

The problem is that there are two different levels of #1 centre, is Lindholm a guy that can be a first line centre, yes.
Is he on the level of the 4-5 guys that are superstars of the position, no.
Yes it would be great to have a superstar centre but they aren't available, need a superstar winger to accompany him, pretty much any team that has success has a superstar on their top line.

He’d be at least a 2C on any team in the league (with the exception of Edmonton, Pittsburgh, and NJ), including every Cup contender.

I think that’s what everyone is saying, and 1C on many teams
