The Yotes are a joke of a franchise. People who live in glass college houses shouldn't throw stones

Ok but part of that is because the Coyotes typically have more cap space than most teams. It would be struggle most years for them to reach the cap floor if not for LTIRetirement contracts.

I'm going to say it's because nobody wants to live and play in Winnipeg and players do want to live and play here.
Just wait until there is a permanent arena, top 5 destination in the league!

LOL
Phoenix isn't a top 5 destination in any other sport, why would it ever be one in hockey? Nothing against the city, but it doesn't really attract pro athletes and then you have the organization itself. How can the current group ever be considered the type of organization that athletes will aspire to join?

Hmm... it seems like the state of Arizona is actually pretty desirable for the rich. The questions around the actual organization are valid, but if they do somehow stay there and get a new arena that is in a good location, I think it could quickly turn into a highly desirable place to play with the weather.

Phoenix has hot weather and Arizona's tax situation is reasonable. But a place that has the vibe that attracts athletes the way SoCal, Miami, Vegas, NY do? Even Dallas has more athletes that make it their off season home.
Mind you, the NHL demographic is different. Basically no black players in the NHL which does fit with Phoenix.

It is if your the Doan type, love playing golf, hot weather, playing meaningless no pressure games, it's like year round retirement.

The Coyotes have been in the Conference Finals more recently than The Flames.
The same could've been said about South Florida until recently, past history means nothing when you have stability.
Low taxes, amazing weather, generally you can be yourself in public. I stand by that.

You don’t have stable ownership.
You don’t have a track record of success.
You play in a college arena (and a small one at that).
Voters rejected a new arena proposal.
No existing plans for a new arena.
Phoenix is a nice city that, broadly speaking, attracts retirees more than it attracts prime of their life athletes living a more lavish lifestyle.
To throw out the team as a possible top 5 destination is just preposterous given all of these things. Of course this can change, but so much has to change in this situation. Right now it is a bottom 3 destination and you’re arguing about whether it is preferable to Winnipeg.

I have no doubt that Arizona is a top 10 geographical destination. I don’t know about top 5 though. I think Miami, Tampa, L.A., Anaheim, Las Vegas, Dallas, San Jose, and Raleigh would be ahead of them. But so would Atlanta be if they stuck around. When the Jets first moved there, they had numerous stars jumping in there. The problem is that it is a crappy hockey market. Kind of the opposite situation as Winnipeg.
It may still turn into a good hockey market day, but it has been a long time.

-Ownership is absolutely stable (Although, I'd prefer a sale to Suns own Mat Ishbia)
-Track record of success, see above - most issues due to unstable ownership
-College arena doesn't matter today from all accounts, but a new arena will enhance the attractiveness of the location
-Arena plans will be announced in the next couple of months
-Voters rejecting the Tempe deal doesn't matter
Even at its lowest the location is more desirable than Winnipeg. Who are having issues selling tickets themselves these days

Hes right that they need a permanent arena, but the other thing Arizona has...is a disproportionately high population of Wintering Canadians who will go to hockey games as well as people who go to Arizona for whatever reason and will take in a game.
The problem with that, and there are a few, is that is casual. You're not going to sell a lot of Season's Tickets that way.

Stable ownership? These are the guys that didn't pay their tax bills to Glendale, embroiled in litigation with Phoenix and FAA, can't get their gambling license off the ground.
Your post isn't really a rebuttal if that is what it was intended to be.
Phoenix - better than Winnipeg.

Nor does that translate well to corporate support.
Still, at this point pro sports seems to be viable in almost any decent US metro market. You just need a billionaire who can work out a sweetheart arena deal so the team can essentially stay cash flow neutral through operations. At that point, it is no different than owning an expensive piece of art.

Arizona is a hell hole nightmare for 6 months of the year. Why anyone would stay there year round is beyond me. You basically need to run from you AC house to whatever AC location to survive.
Oh and other hockey stuff I guess
Winnipeg and Arizona are basically the same but flipped weather wise
