Re-watched this evening, giving it my full attention.
Y'know, musicals still aren't my thing, but that was pretty damned good.
For anyone wanting a soundtrack (I'm sure it'll get an official release if it hasn't already): https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OL...Ss-eVvp4HEmbWU
(I think "Status Report" is my favourite. )

I enjoyed that more than I thought I would. Celia Rose Gooding (Uhura) stole the show with that voice of hers. Wow.
One more episode to go. Hopefully they'll knock it out of the park and send us into the break on a high note. I imagine with the current writers/actors strike, it's gonna be a long wait for season 3. 2025 at the earliest maybe?

I didn't like it, but that's fine. This show has a way above average, and expected, success rate. I'll take a personal miss for them to do something off the wall.

I love that they tried something crazy. Too bad it didn't work (imo). Still way better than banging ghosts in lamps.

This is pretty much the way I look at it too. Some people are going to love this episode some people arent the show still hits far more than it misses.

The singing really seemed like they were lip-syncing a lot. I might need to rewatch as well, because I tune out when people start singing dialogue.

Damn, I loved and hated that. It's going to be a long off-season.

It could be a very long off-season because, as I understand it, they haven't shot anything for season 3 yet. They were about to begin production when the writers strike started.

Maybe they can make a non-scripted Trek reality show?

That was.....AWESOME!
Ugh...this is going to be a brutal wait.
That one is going to need some re-watch.

That was excellent. Sadly, due to the writers/actors strike, we'll probably have to wait until late 2024 at the earliest to see the conclusion.

Fffuuuuuuuuuuuuuu... !!
This is going to make the gap between "The Best of Both Worlds" and "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II" seem like the blink of an eye.

This is the first time Scotty is being played by a Scottish actor.

I also don't particularly care for it, but to me it was somewhat remedied by showing the adult in a space suit trying to hack into systems on the Cayuga. It shows that they aren't just these seemingly mindless, "instinctual" animals; they are sentient and, by the time they're adults, quite intelligent.

Yeah, I agree.
It's just strange to me that they're trying to have their Aliens cake and eat it too. You can shoot kill a biting toddler Gorn without a second though, but the adult Gorn is sentient.

I agree, having "hatchlings" be bitey monsters is a bit of a whiff on the writers' parts. It doesn't make much narrative sense to me. But then again it does make them as a species seem very 'alien' (not Alien™) in that we (humans) and they (Gorns) both seem to fail to recognize each others' sentience. They think nothing of using us as flesh sacks, and we think nothing of blowing away their babies with phaser rifles. That both civilizations are obviously very intelligent by virtue of being space-faring seems to be a point lost to both sides.

Yeah, I'm also with all of you on that note.
Making them essentially 'animals' doesnt really conform with their advanced technological and military status.
You already walk this line with the Klingons and Orions, 'who is building the ships?' But this is taking it a step further which....unless you wizard up some techno-babble later on doesnt make a whole lot of sense.
