Objectively 27 is a mother ####er of an age. 26 and 28 are fine, but for whatever reason 27 feels like a crisis.

Now that I'm 43 and looking back, I think the prime age window is 27 to 35. At least for me it was. That's when I felt the healthiest, I could recover still relatively quickly, and had time and money to do more fun things.

TheIronMaiden - Really? Oh man I loved 27. That's the perfect age of still being young and having fun, but also starting to mature and be a bit into your career at that point and starting to make decent coin. That was such a fun age. 35 felt similar to that too, that was a fun year as well.

Could just be me, but a few folks I spoke with talk about it being a liminal space where you are no longer interested in the childish things you loved before and are bracing for the railway career track it feels like you've put yourself on.
Long time lovers grow apart, old friends are not who you thought they would be.
28 for me was when I had come to grip with the changes in my life, and I have felt really happy and comfortable since then.

I was being facetious about the age thing, but some interesting comments here, too.
Still in my 20s, still single with some money to throw around... but I did just quit my job, so not feeling amazing career-wise.
Almost have too many options: do I want to see the world, go all-in on dating and having kids, work like a dog to make property-buying money?
Any advice?

To me this is just a reminder of how young we start feeling old. I remember feeling "old" in my mid-20s. In hindsight it's ridiculous, but at the time it just felt like it.
It also speaks to how "feeling old" is very relative in terms of who you're saying it around. He prob doesn't realize the median age on this site is like 42 ha-ha, yeah that clearly wasn't going to fly here.

Nah, well aware. I just assume every poster is male, 40-plus, a millionaire and, being a Flames board, a masochist. Two of my favourite posters, Locke and Sliver, tick most of these boxes I think.

I think it's true when people say your health suddenly changes at age 30. The hangovers are the best indication, but even after 30, you are doing really good. You just don't think you're invincible anymore.
At your age, I think I was still developing and learning about my career, who I was and learning about relationships with others. I was aware of accumulating assets and investing, but I had not allowed my world to revolve around their servicing and maintenance.
27 is a good time to finish off your frivolity bucket list before putting down deep roots. If there's adrenaline junkie stuff, risky businesses, hard travel, living in a different part of the world, eating weird ####, getting ####faced for days on end etc. you want to do before relationships, mortgages, career upkeep etc. bog you down, do it. Basically things that need 10+ days of focus to complete, do it now.

Also, companies that bastardize words for their product names. The one that drives me crazy right now is Callaway Golf with their new Paradym clubs. It is supposed to be paradigm. Maybe there is a good reason why the didn't use paradigm such as an existing trademark or something but it bothers me.

far too many people think paradigm is actually spelled paradym, and when they see paradigm in their heads they're saying "para-dijjim" or "para-diggum". Had to mansplain that to a dude a few years back.

Average age demographic on this thread is "want to be late 20's" but I'm sure it's more than double that.
guilty as charged.
