Default Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Maywheather...where's it showing??

Hey, I just have a question about where this fight is showing on saturday. I just got an email from TelusTV(my provider) saying that they're not offering the fight on PPV so now I'm stuck trying to find a place to watch this. Anyone ??

Thanks. I'll phone Schank's to find out. Does anyone else have ideas of where to see the fight in other SW locations?

I would imagine that most pubs are going to show this fight...its a huge event. Try Dixons or Limericks...they show the UFC events and I can't imagine that they'll want to miss out on this.

I'm really pissed I have to miss this fight. I was supposed to be ordering it at my house and having a bunch of people over to watch it. Then it turned otu to be the same day as the birthdays of a couple of female friends of mine and, well...you know how women get.

There's a cool special on this fight on TSN right now.

I would just like to say after watching that special that I hope Oscar kicks the crap out of that snot nosed little punk. Give him an attitude adjustment.

I think tonight's was the last show of the 24/7 special. I watched all the episodes and for one I really liked the inside look at the training session these guys go through to get ready for a fight. I have to agree with your sentiment. I have been an Oscar fan since his first title fight and after watching Mayweather act like a punk I can't wait to see Oscar cream this guy. Should be a good fight.

I'm really looking forward to this fight, but I can't say that I'd be betting on Oscar. I would love to see him win, but Mayweather is an amazing boxer. I don't think that Oscar can keep pace with him...hope I'm wrong!

Not going to happen. Mayweather is going to win by a mile.

I know that Mayweather is a good fighter but maybe it's my Latino pride saying that De La Hoya is going to cream this kid.

I put my money on Oscar, but I wish I could take that bet back. Really bet with my heart there and not my head. Oh well, I couldn't stand cheering for Mayweather anyways.
It should be a good fight. While Mayweather should win, he's never fought someone as big and strong as Oscar before. Hopefully Oscar can rock him early and plant some doubt in Mayweather's mind. Cinqo de Mayo and the crowd will be rocking for this! I'm going to shell out the $60 for this one.

Bold.

He's never fought anyone with Oscar's power. He's also never fought at this weight. Will it slow him down a bit?

Odds have been steadily moving toward the middle all week. That bodes well for Oscar.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Oscar win...if Mayweather wins he'll have to go the distance and if that's the case, he'd better not tire under the extra weight.

I found a site blogging the fight. Better than nothing.

EDIT:

Or BBC

Round One: No great dramas in the opening round. Mayweather fighting fom distance, jumping in and using his hand speed to land several jabs. De la Hoya lands with one decent right hand and a flurry of body blows, but it was marginally Mayweather's round. BBC score: Oscar 9-10 Floyd

I was a little underwhelmed by Mayweather tonight. Although he was easily the more efficient fighter, it almost seemed like he was playing an NHL-style trap. One punch, roll out........one punch, roll out, etc. Effective, and it obviously won him the fight, but I was kind of bored watching the guy. Too bad, since he seems quick enough and has enough power to be a very exciting guy to watch in the ring. I sure won't be rushing out to watch any of his fights in the future.

Even Oscar mentioned after the fight that if he didn't press the action there wouldn't have been a fight at all. Not far from the truth, IMO.

That being said, Mayweather did deserve to win, I'm still in shock in went to a split decision. Not sure what the one judge was thinking.

Although I was rooting for Oscar (and so was the vast, vast majority at the MGM), it was clear he was a bit too slow, and a bit overpowered by Mayweather. It was great to see him be the more aggressive boxer (by a mile), but he was landing a lot less punches (percentage-wise) and was doing a lot of running around trying to press the action.

The big question tonight will be 'what happened to his left jab'? Fairly effective when he used it, but for some reason he didn't use it near as much as expected. Even he couldn't explain after the fight why he didn't. Kind of strange.

On a side note, I wasn't too impressed with Mayweather after the fight in the ring when he said (I believe 3 different times):

"God is never wrong."

You like god.......we get it. Can't we just talk about the fight?

Snoozer. Nothing exciting. Just a couple of guys dancing in a ring. All the hype, and was a very unentertaining match.

I really liked the fight. Classic villian vs. good guy fight. Not much action wise because Mayweather like you said was always up against the ropes with his hands up, but it was nice seeing Oscar being the initiator and taking it to him. What I found really impressive was the slowmo cameras. I mean WOW. The clarity and the ripples shown of Oscar getting knocked were really really cool (I thought).

And yeah, didn't get the "God is never wrong" reference. Also funny hearing Mayweather Sr. saying how Oscar probably should have won it (ain't that a slap in the face to the JR). Finally, I like how Oscar at the end was calm and just a regular guy not making any excuses for his performance...very gentlemanly of him and a class act.
