Maier is the worst QB we have had since Feterik.

They are what their record says they are. Just a bad football team. They do nothing well as offense, defense, and specials teams just yoyo between bad and mediocre. It's tough to see a Stampeders team with Huff still involved look this bad. Jake Maier is just one of many bad QB's playing in this league right now and at the rate he's going 30 picks isn't out of the question this season.

They need to retire that wide-side pass to the receiver standing still near the sideline 15-20 yards downfield. I recall Mitchell throwing a few interceptions on that play as well, the ball just floats out there for too long unless you have a quarterback with the arm strength to put it there on a rope.

It's a staple in many play books but we don't use it to build into bigger plays and the timing is off.
A lot of the playbook is closed because of the QB having so many limitations because of his weak arm and accuracy

Jake is easily the worst QB in the league and its not close. I’d say he has a million dollar arm and a ten cent brain, except he has a five cent arm and a one cent brain. It doesn’t appear he’s ever played the game before, his mechanics are garbage, he’s got scared feet, and the athleticism of a dead frog dried up on the sidewalk.
There is no reason the Stamps shouldn’t cut him tomorrow and run with Tommy Stevens. There is about a zero percent chance he would be worse.
The happy news for that garbage Edmonton team is that the Stamps are the free space on the bingo card. They will get to end their home losing streak as soon as this sad sack band of losers make the trek north.
Dickinson should be canned at the end of the year. He’s out of his depth and doesn’t appear to have any idea how to fix the complete mess he’s created.

Concerning part is he isn't learning from his mistakes and keeps making them.
He keeps talking about it so does the coach and he goes out there and does it again.
Mitchell and Maier have combined for 20 picks.

Listened to Dave's post game interview, still believes in Jake.
Dickenson will never be on the hot seat but that was a horrendously called game by him. How many 2nd shorts were put on Meier to make yet another poor decision instead of running the ball? This team does not have a good QB, they need to establish the run.
I think that sequence in the 2nd Q summed up this team, take a penalty for too many men in the huddle, then see Maier take another for time count and then get sacked. They went from 1st and goal on the 9 yards line to 3rd and goal from 25 yard line. Bad coaching, bad players, bad decisions.
One of the worst officiated games, bad call one after another. I think outside of late penalty on Bellamy and roughing the passer on Maier this Als team apparently did not commit any other fouls. TSN did not show the replays on Lewis' punt returns but he runs up and gets the ball. Every time he did that, he was trying to avoid an Als play within a split second, how was that not 15 yards?
Maier - how many pick 6s is that this year? Why are you so against using your legs? Could've easily had few more first downs. i wont even go into his last 2 drives, just bad decisions one after another. He cannot handle the pressure. He's shown that a few times now, yet to deliver when it matters.
Mills - Way to hesitant, doesn't have his mean north and south running style anymore. Not getting the ball but when he did he danced too much.
Receivers - Luther had a bad game, bad out throw by Maier but didn't attack the ball to avoid the pick 6. Reggie tried. Odoms-Dukes played well. Rest meh.
OL - Time to start making changes. Give Derrick Dennis a call if they still believe they can salvage this season. Have to go back to two import tackles.
DL - Did not get it done. Got run over and only got same late hits on Fajardo. Never got home for a sack. Howsare needs to be better. Rose needs to be better.
LB - I'm just not an Awe fan. I don't like the extra antics, hopefully he's one and done with the Stamps. Wall and Judge both were ok.
DB - Why was Brad Muhammad cut by Stamps and then by the Bombers this year? This game highlighted it, he is just not good enough. Rest of the DBs were good imo.
Teams - Rene was a scoring machine. Lewis is a gamer. Coverage was good.
This team overall has too many flaws. Led by Dickenson's bad play calling, Maeir's terrible decisions. Flawed trenches. Not going anywhere with those 3 things.

Be careful what you wish for. Dave is having a down season but this is also the first where he's wearing the GM hat. It's getting clear it's probably too much for him but that can be rectified in the offseason. If he wants to continue as head coach he's going to have to let go of the offense. He can't wear all these hats and do those jobs well and it shows in the amount of mistakes this team makes. It's no different than what's going on in Edmonton. Chris Jones as DC was pretty good when it's all he did. Chris Jones as HC and DC were good enough to win a Grey Cup. Chris Jones as GM, HC, DC, is horrible.
Dave the head coach has no choice but to continue trotting out Maier because Dave the GM didn't provide the head coach a viable backup QB. Dane Evans was available for a 4th round pick and a team friendly $94k restructure and he's come in handy for the Lions. That's going to haunt the Stamps as they could not only use him, them getting him would have hurt the Lions. This is going to be a learning season for Dickenson and as fans we will have to take our lumps because it's just not a good team. He and Huff have provided fans too many good teams over the last two decades to just throw in the towel after a bad season. I am hoping Dave is coming to the realization that he has to start keeping his good players and maybe even sign some free agent because turning over the roster every season just isn't working any more as the team just isn't as talented as other rosters in this league and they don't have a quality QB to overcome the shortcomings.

I know everyone is piling on Jake and deservedly so but it seems all season, defenses have been jumping routes like crazy against them. It's clear teams are finding a lot of tendencies in play calling and Jake's decision making on film study. This has to be cleaned up or the turnovers are going to continue.

I agree Stevens is probably not a better option than Maier at this point, and that DD might have too much on his plate at the moment. The 2-5 record speaks for itself to be honest.
I still think Maier does some things well but against a defence that can create pressure and disrupt timing he struggles and Montreal exploited that yesterday. He's also not playing very well overall in terms of getting first downs and avoiding big mistakes. Play-calling and personnel have a role to play as well, especially the former. I wonder if Carey eventually coming back will give the offence a bit of a spark.

Jake throws off of his back foot a lot.
Jake likes to throw cross field against his body a lot
Jake doesn't like to take the simple play and forces things a lot
Jake doesn't have the arm to be throwing the deep flats a lot
Wrong game plan for Jake
The offensive line sucks at pass protect, the right tackle chases every single time.
I didn't think that the defense was all that great.

My god does he ever. He seems to rush things that don't need to a lot, like he's scared or something.

Just my 2 cents, but the O-line is not providing Jake a lot of time to go through his reads. I realize he's not very mobile, but he needs to give himself more time via scrambling/moving the pocket to find an open receiver. When things break down, he needs to be more open to tucking the ball under his arm and trying to get some positive yards.

I don't think our offence is outdated I think Jake is way too slow in making his reads and our o line isn't as good anymore.
Calgary has been home to some of the most creative offensive minds in CFL history and that includes Dave.
What I think is finally catching up is not just the loss of talent on the field but our coaching staff has been raided as well.
When you have a franchise like ours it's bound to happen but we have been lucky to get good coaches but the cap on coaches wtf??? Amd the last few guys to leave especially Mace we are feeling it.

100% Jake should not be making the dumb throws he is when under pressure but he has so little time that even if we improve on decision making the new QB is going to still be running for his life trying to make risky throws with no time to properly set their feet.
The issue with Maier though is with his noodle arm I am not sure things get much better even if he has times, there are just too many throws he can't make.

That and he needs to be able to step into his throws to generate any zip. When he throws off the back foot or on the run the ball flutters and wobbles. There's no doubt in my mind he could function better behind a solid pass blocking offensive line but the current situation is really accentuating his weaknesses.

I think that is one of his issues is when the protection breaks down he scrambles to pass cross body.
I think LaPolice said it a few time gets the ball out he hangs on or throws into coverage. Throw it away or take off.
They really need to simplify the offence for him. Run the ball and run a bunch of crossing routes and slants 1 read and out or take off.
