Honestly, I would’ve just copped to not being able to read. Every alternative explanation for this is significantly worse.

Since we're all here, what has everybody thought of Barn Burner's first "season" of shows? What other shows would you like to see from the FN team for 2023-24?
Unrelated: I *love* listening to Boomer conduct interviews. He's so good at creating a really calm, conversational vibe.

I really liked it a lot. I appreciated the pretty honest and frank assessment of the team over the course of the year.
Totally agree about Boomer. I hope he gets paid reasonably because he’s quite good at what he does

Not a fan of Bomber and Pinder at all but that interview was great but it was great because Stajan was open and honest and said things you don't typically hear.
Kind of like the Conroy interview with Rob Kerr.

Love Barn Burner, I listen everyday. I hope they do a Christmas spirits show again this year. That was fantastic

Barn Burner is absolutely fantastic. Perfect chemistry, and excellent interviews. They are 100% the best part of current Calgary media. It's way more than I was expecting to be honest.

You hit the nail on the head here. As a born and raised Calgarian who no longer lives in Calgary, it’s awesome having a daily podcast to listen to that covers the Flames. Flames Talk is good too, but it’s obviously not the same kind of podcast

Nothing to do with whether he was telling a story he heard or stating a fact. Questioning whether the detail passed the smell test.
Seems simple to me

I'll never figure you out.
Oddest arguments with you on an annual basis.
Glad I'm not the only one that finds your methods dumbfounding.
I had an uncle that loved to argue. He'd switch sides if you agreed with him. Are you my uncle?

I haven't listened to the fan960 for more than 10 consecutive minutes since Boomer and Pinder left. The new podcast is great and I'd imagine it will only get better. Having two traditional media guys and an ex nhl'er is a good mix as well.

I really like their long form interviews. It's a nice change of pace, and a nice peek behind the curtain. My only negative would be sometimes the sound quality seems to be poor (that's really my only critique so far).

I have been a loyal Fan 960 listener since the beginning, but other than Pat, there needs to be more polished hosts. Barn Burner has filled the void nicely, especially since they can be more critical without being a rights-holder hanging over their heads.
And Rob Kerr is wonderful at his job.
Nice to have them all back on the air.

Given the sponsors and YouTube payouts, do folks think the hosts are sustaining themselves financially? I hope they are. When I check, I don’t see many views of their shows. Radio didn’t pay well I imagine, but it was a steady known pay check. I just don’t have time for the full show.

I've been really enjoying Barn Burner. My only worry is if it's sustainable long term. I would hate to have it go away because it doesn't pay enough.
I see they get like a couple thousand views each show. Is that enough to sustain a podcast going forward and still have everyone involved make a decent living?

Really enjoy the show, listen every day and appreciate the interviews they have in the can to air over the summer. Though they do guardingly speak of their past, I like their stories the best, really pulling back the curtains of radio and the sports media industry. I always forget Pinder was the voice of the Heat until they start talking about the Coyotes moving to Houston. Maybe others would rather here them "Talk Sports" but personally I like the genersl conversation the best.
As for "making money" they have done a good job of getting their name out there to the point that every segment they do has some sort of sponsor. It is also fairly well known that both of their spouses earn a good wage to so that will help them for the next few years while they make it break it so to speak. They also have to draw some sort of salary from Playmaker. So hopefully they are able to make enough that they can continue with the show. Unsure if Warrener is really in it for the long haul like the other two.

I really enjoyed it. I haven't been as invested in the team in the daily grind the last several season and TBH Barn Burner launching was a big part of me getting the bug again. The type of parasoical relationship the listener had with the Boys on the radio transfers well to the live stream/podcast format.
The occasional use of video and graphics really enhance when I'm streaming the show but if I'm catching the pod later can a little disruptive. But that's a pretty minor gripe.
As far as new shows, that's a tougher question. Generally I think how the roster has expanded the last little bit is really solid. Focus on building that up and ensuring it's sustainable.
I also know his a low hanging fruit, and easier said than done, but a larger diversity of perspectives could be nice. I know part of bringing Michela on board was part of that.
Long story short, keep it going!

I love the YouTube aspect, mainly because we can see their facial expressions when talking.

I've adjusted my listening as well.
Always listened to 960 on the way into work, but the new roster with George just doesn't work for me.
So now it's podcasts both directions with either Flames Talk or Barn Burner ... and when running low Smart Less.

It's a shame they aren't getting more viewers/listeners. I'll chalk it up to people having more familiarity with the SN radio name brand recognition and tuning in for that reason. But Barnburner is so damn good some days. The interview series are absolutely fantastic and do so much to help make the offseason not drag that much. All the player's insight is so cool to hear. All the rumors of dysfunction, split rooms, differing opinions of playing styles, it's neat to hear some stuff get confirmed what we suspected and other stuff confirmed at just rumors. Most of all, it has really portrayed the players as humans instead of toys that get traded to whomever is willing to pay for them. Something that many fans forget.
Looking forward to the Glencross interviews upcoming.
