They came in earlier today on 35L. I think they are on apron 9 now.

To the surprise of absolutely nobody here is an entirely predictable story. Air Canada pilots (who just changed unions to ALPA) have elected to end their 10 year contract early and start bargaining. Current contract now ends in September of this year and they will be looking for similar wage increase as WestJet and some of the US airlines received.

Can't say that breaks my heart. Some cities that got heavily Swooped were effectively cut off or at least heavily reduced from the WestJet network when Swoop replaced mainline flights (I stand to be corrected but I don't think you could connect from Swoop to mainline and vice versa?). Now they will go back to mainline/Encore.

The formation of Swoop was an incredible mistake on so many levels, it will be good to see it go away.
Also of note, incredible how many errors there were in such a short article. But the general headline of Swoop’s demise was correct it appears.

Having been one of the people that helped build the airline I 100% agree with your comments.

B-17 about to land at Springbank, came up from Helena. Not sure how long it will be here.
Edit: Looks like it will be in Medicine Hat from June 27-July 2.

I got to fly on Aluminum Overcast (B-17) when she was up here 7 years ago (to the day!). The thing that still strikes me is the bomb bay right behind the cockpit and the tiny catwalk running through it. That would be a hell of a place to stand when they were dropping their load.

We are supposed to get two CF-18's doing a flyby for the start of the rodeo today. Around 1:30pm.

Thanks for the heads up! That was cool. I only saw one of the planes from my vantage at least.

EAA AirVenture kicking off in Oshkosh, it becomes home to the busiest air traffic control tower in the world as all the aircraft come in. Really cool to view on the flight trackers like Flightradar24 or ADS-B Exchange, live webcams here too: https://www.eaa.org/airventure/live

Saw a C130 yesterday over Tuscany and was wondering what was going on.
Very sad and I hesitate to speculate but two things come to mind (for me):
1. It's a 6 seat aircraft but 6 people doing a mountain crossing leads to wonder if the aircraft was within it's weight limits. Wouldn't take much luggage to put it over.
2. Seems an odd decision to begin a mountain crossing in a single engine aircraft near dusk.

Yeah, after fuel the max payload is only about 1000lbs, doing a mountain flight I wouldn't even think of approaching that, either the pilot took a massive and frankly stupid risk or there were a couple small kids aboard.

How long of a flight would that be in a plane like this? Sunset is essentially 9:30 nowadays here with last light around 10:10.
