Future Sylar made a terrible oversight IMO by letting either of the Hiro's live for that long. He never should have sent Suresh to do the job...he needed to do it himself to learn how to control time etc.

My assumption is that Hiro never killed Sylar. He never regenerated because Hiro failed to kill him.
Its all a bit confusing. There are 2 storylines (futures) at work. Hiro's time jumping makes it kinda fuzzy.

Original timeline: Sylar kills Claire, Hiro stabs Sylar, Sylar regens. Hiro goes back in time to tell Peter to "Save the Cheerleader"
New timeline: Peter saves Claire, no one stabs Sylar(?), both Claire and Sylar are alive.

Future_Hiro DID stab Sylar. Only that was before he went back in time and changed everything, wiping out the old timeline to everyone but his *own memory*. He then asked if Present_Hiro if he stabbed Sylar so that Sylar would die without the regen power. Present_Hiro said no.

*my head hurts*

What an awesome show!

HD has it right. Our Sylar can't regenerate on the day NYC explodes now, since Peter saved Claire. Hiro (or whomever) now needs to take out Sylar. In the past episode, we saw a future where Claire was saved, but no one killed Sylar. That's why Sylar was able to finally kill Claire and claim her powers 5 years into our future.

Sylar being alive in the future has nothing to do with taking Claire's powers. He was one of billions not in NYC the day the explosion occured, natch.

Here is another question. Instead of planning for 5 years the perfect time to go back and kill Sylar. Why not go back to before he learned that he can take powers at all and kill him then, or even better when he was a kid.

Excellent questions - perhaps Hiro is not privy to Sylar's real name, or the records of his real name have been lost/destroyed? Hiro's experiences with attempting to save Charlie and failing make me wonder why he still thinks he can change things at all.

Maybe it's as he explained, he doesn't have much ability to actualy control his powers and until he went to the future, he didn't even know what "save the cheerleader...." meant in terms of the larger picture.

Good one! But if anyone can make it work, it's Hiro.

No one else found it odd that Future Hiro "brought" DL, Candice and Molly Walker to HRG and Future Sylar seemed to exhibit abilities of DL and Candice? (No idea what Molly does yet, we should find out next week).

Yeah, I thought of that. It seems that HRG had an agreement with Parkman that allowed HRG to protect the heroes that had non-dangerous powers. My guess is Parkman wasn't honouring that agreement reporting the heroes to Nathan (who was actually Sylar).

Also, it seemed to allude to the fact that Parkman's son was killed and that he perhaps had some ability. I wonder what that was...

That's as good an explanation as any, nice work.

I kind of thought that Janice and Matt's son (Matthew on the drawing) were alive and well somewhere. That HRG had been honoring his side of things, and Matt decided not to right at the end. As you pointed, he may not have been honoring it all along.

Didnt he already have this power? I seem to remember from the first couple episodes the police office investigating a murder scene w/ a frozen guy on the wall?

Got a couple guesses about weird future things.

Peter choses to have that scar. W/ Claires powers he could easily regenerate, but instead chose to allow himself to heal normally so there would be a scar. My guess is he gained it at or around the time of his explosion. He wears it to reflect his new darker personality caused by this event.

Savind the chearleader was only part of the puzzle. Sylar was the original one who blew up NYC, but w/out claire's powers he is not bold enough to do it. This leaves space for Linderman to do it instead.

I think Sylar got DL's powers when they did the raid and captured those 200 or somthing "heros" that were in hiding, either that or Matt did turn him in earlier as he was deemed a threat to homeland security.

And as far as I know Matt's kid IS alive. It seems him and HRG had a deal going where their kids could stay safe and hidden, thus HRG giving Matt the drawing.

Here's my theory, although I'm sure it's going to have plotholes because of the complexity of the series.

In the future timeline, Peter DOESN'T gain the ability to regenerate, hence the scar on his face (and the fact that we didn't see him use his regenerative powers in Five Years Gone). He did not save Claire from Sylar in the past, and thus did not sponge her powers, but somehow Claire still survived. Perhaps we do not see Momma Petrelli in the future because Sylar has killed her too, and her unknown power, based on bloodline, was also regeneration (In addition, he might have been able to kill Linderman as well, which would help explain Nathan Petrelli's death too, and realize his potential for political power).

When doomsday came, Peter and Sylar squared off in New York City, and this is where Peter receives the slash on his face. Hiro catches Sylar by surprise and stabs him (as per the Comic Book), but realizes it does no good to Sylar. Before Sylar can kill Hiro, Hiro tells Peter he can save the world all over again via time travel, and Hiro time travels out of New York, but accidentally leaves Ando behind. Peter and Sylar continue fighting, and Peter becomes no match for him. However, before Peter dies, he absorbs Sylar's power that Sylar stole from Claire/Momma Petrelli/Linderman, and thus realizes that his newfound ability would enable him to destroy Sylar permanently and regenerate. Knowing that Hiro exists in the future and has the ability to time travel, Peters decides there is only one way to permanently destroy Sylar. At this moment, Peter combusts, and destroys NYC. Both Peter and Sylar are able to survive the blast, and escape the aftermath from each other. Hiro returns to the scene, finds Ando and millions others are dead, and vows to return to the past to prevent Sylar from letting this happen.

The other characters are not present in New York at the time of the blast, because their deaths in a huge explosion would prevent Sylar from taking their powers, such as D.L.'s phasing and Candice's illusion powers. The next season shows that the explosion actually happened, and thus the events that follow are Peter blaming himself for the explosion and going into recluse, Sylar determined to wax the rest of the protagonists and take political power, Hiro's devotion to preventing the past, and Suresh and all the other characters helping find others to stop Sylar (hence the introduction of Molly Walker).

That's just my two cents. For those who are fans, the original plot has shades of Dragonball written all over it, especially the Cell saga. It's likely this is where the writers got some inspiration for the series.

My guess on Peter's scar:

Slashed by Hiro, but the Hatian was present when it happened.

It certainly brought Future Hiro's earlier comment on the subway to Peter Petrelli "You look different without your scar" into making sense. I thought he was going to scar up from Sylar's attempted dome slice, but that obviously is not what it's from.

Poor Ali Larter - I can see her reading scripts and saying: "First I'm running a Web Sex site and cavorting on a bed... then I'm a stripper in Vegas. That's it, I'm calling my agent!"

Hayden's Panneitere (sp) is one cute girl, blonde or brunette. But she is still 17, so fugeddaboudit....

You can stop right there, because we know the only reason Claire is alive in this alternate future is because Peter saved her at Homecoming. That's why Future Hiro was pissed at the beginning of the episode - because he was trying to understand why Peter saving Claire did not alter his timeline.
