There's a place right by the Harry Hays building, I can't remember the name though.

I think it's Pho Pasteur. Up a set of stairs?
That's my place for best Pho place downtown.
Sunny's in Chinatown is also pretty good. Massive bowls. Upstairs beside the bakery on 2nd Ave.

Isn't every other restaurant in town a Pho restaurant these days?
There's a place in the little mall in Chinatown (not Dragon City, but across the street on I think 2nd Ave. Same street as Silver Dragon) called Pho Tai that has been there for years and years, long before Pho was popular. I love that place. In the same mall, there's also a tiny little Viet sub place run by a nice Viet couple that's really excellent.

Pho Huong Viet is the best Pho in the world... IMO
From downtown take the 101 or 104 up Bow trail and it's near the cash converters.
Not open Monday though. I've been to a couple in Shawnessy and they were terrible in comparison.

Golden Star-Chinatown San Francisco. 2 blocks from my office. That would be the best Pho in the world.

I would love to try Pho sometime, but on the occasions (quite often) that I've delivered mail to pho restaraunts here in Wichita I've had to hold my breath because the smell makes me want to puke. I don't know what it is, but I don't like it.

So how does one properly pronounce Pho anyways? The anglicized version is "ffff-ho" but I'm almost positive the actual Vietnamese pronounciation is not that.
My vote goes to Saigon Y2K on Center (or other other 2 locations). They'll use actual satay in their satay beef soup. (More of a paste and is actual satay, not just chili oil like at most Viet places)

Pho is pronounced pheu... kinda like pha (its like... french). All my viet friends pronounce like that...
Anyways... Sunny's isn't bad, my vote goes there.

I had never heard of this stuff either. Here is a description for all the people who are not up to date on Vietnamese food.

Since we're on this topic... for those willing to try something new, the next time you order pho, ask for "beef on side"... basically, they'll serve you the raw beef on a plate, on the side. Then you can cook your meat to the tenderness you like, rather than have it sit at the bottom of your bowl, getting overcooked while you eat.
