This clearly put Lindholm's value in the 8.5-9 range IMO

Especially in Calgary

You could be right. But it shouldn't. Debrincat is a better comp.

It would be stupid for someone to sign him to that contract

You should change your name to Eeyore.

Doesn’t change much on the bottom end. The floor was always going to be Horvat’s contract. I was guessing it’d be around 9 million if he signed here in the summer

Guessing this is what Lindholm is roughly shooting for.

What was the assumption of the deal offered to Lindholm? $8.75m over 8 years?

Thats probably the max he'd get from Calgary. This ought to confirm that.

Good deal imo. Canucks fans out there saying this is likely what the Canucks offer Pettersson. Silly bastards, that number isn't coming in under 10.25.

I would be fine with $9.75M for Lindholm, if it was for a 5 or 6 year term.

But for 8 years, it has to be lower.

"Best player on the team" is no basis upon which to award a contract, simply because it depends on how good the team is. The best player in Seattle is who - McCann?

And his team was good, so?

Another data point is when they were on the same team, Aho out produced him while being 2 yrs younger.

So you would pay Jared McCann $9M and not Lindholm?

It's still irrelevant

Since when does a team being good mean you make more money?

I just don't see how it's conceivable for Lindholm to ask for a contract that begins with a 9 on an 8 year deal, and I am one of his biggest fans. Aho is clearly the superior player.
Mr Pedantic here to point out that Martin Neces led the Hurricanes in scoring this year.

Over the course of the contract they're saving so much money on Jersey stitching.

We need to start drafting players with 3 letter last names.

Correct, although Aho had a better point a game average.

If you've watched Aho play, you can just see he has skill and drives offensive plays in a way that Lindholm doesn't. His two way game isn't as good, but his offensive game is clearly superior to Lindholm's.

Aho is a younger and better player and offensive catalyst this should set Lindhoms value in the 8.5-9 range.
