It's such a shame him and Federer never played in New York
2006 US Open round 1 - Roger Federer d. Jimmy Wang 6-4 6-1 6-0
Clearly the greatest USO match of all time…because it was my first live Federer experience. While I was already an obsessed fan by that point, it was also the first time I sort of understood why his appeal might not have been universal. At his absolute peak, every shot belonged in the Louvre, but he was clearly toying with his opponent for extended periods with no effort. That’s probably where young Rafa’s balls to the wall intensity on each point made for a more relatable experience for his fan base.

This match was also one of the best I've ever seen
And IJ, your absolutely right, Federer was so much better than everyone he made tennis predictable. I wonder if Alcaraz starts winning like prime Fed if people start hoping for someone else to win.

Pretty good weekend in Granby, Quebec for the Canadians - Katherine Sebov lost in the final after defeating Rebecca Marino in the semi-finals, but is very close to a new career high ranking. On the men's side, Alexis Galarneau just won the men's final and raised his ranking to a new career high of #162 (up 58 places from last week).
Meanwhile, Zverev keeps playing (won earlier today in Hamburg) and the ATP remains silent on these latest domestic abuse allegations. Zverev has denied the allegations and said his lawyers will handle the situation.
This is shockingly bad and Gaston should be assessed a big fine. This is the same guy who earlier this year tried to get the umpire to call a let by intentionally dropping a ball from his pocket.
