Freea agents signing and trades seemed to dry up real quick this summer, probably due to the cap constraints, making this off season feel longer than usual, to think we are not even into the dog days of August yet.

If you are going to make me look it up, might as well use it right.

Getting pretty resigned to the fact that we're going to roll it back with the only move being toffoli (our top scorer) out.
I guess a hanifin trade could happen at any moment but wouldn't be supprised to see him on the roster at the beginning of the season.
Hopefully the team uncertainty isnt a huge distraction, we have a bunch of bounceback seasons, the rookie coach knows his #### and the young guys can bring it.
Feels like alot of it's...
Then we're going to be constantly concerned with if we're having a good season how do we move these guys by trade deadline. If we're having a bad season, wtf are we doing here.
Just feels like abit of lose-lose going into this season. I get the trade market wasn't there so we're a victim of circumstance, but it's frustrating the flames are always finding themselves in these types of positions.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Feels like a good time to remind folks that when Erik Karlsson was last traded (from Ottawa to San Jose) it didn't occur until right before camp started in September of 2018.
Sometimes things take time.
Things will likely fall in to place before camp opens here.

I think there is still a good amount of roster turnover. I don't think Calgary signs anyone from here on out unless some trades happen and they need to fill spots. Conroy has to leave some wiggle room open to make sure he doesn't handcuff himself on any trade, and the trade market is tough enough right now as it is.
I would expect Ruzicka, Pelletier, Coronato and Duehr to be full-time NHL'ers, and Sharangovich in for Toffoli, Lucic, Lewis, Ritchie(s). That's a fairly significant change IMO. New coach, new assistant coach, and hopefully the biggest addition will be a PPG Huberdeau over the 55pt one, a full season of good Weegar vs the last 2 months of the regular season one that we saw, plus hopefully a good Kadri that plays as if he cares all season.
To be sure, I would rather a rebuild, but there is an undeniable injection of youth and speed on this team. I don't think it is exactly running it back. Hopefully it is taking a big step forward. A lot can happen still between now and the start of the season, but already I would say that there is significant turnover, and at least one more 'big' move to come with Hanifin wanting to be in the USA.

So what is next for the Leafs? Samsonov got $3.55M arbitration award they now how a full roster of 23 and are $12.3M over the cap. Do they now get to buyout Murray because they get a new window due to having an arbitration hearing?
Will they buyout Brodie? How will Treliving dig himself out of the cap jail he created by signing Kampf, Reeves, Domi, Klingberg, Bertuzzi

Treliving is going to tell Matthews and Nylander to go #### off
They are being selfish, he needs the money to sign Ryan Reaves
That’s how Treliving operates

If the Leafs move Nylander, the Flames need to be first in line to get him.

If lindholm stays then i can see this if he doesn’t it seems pointless to add another winger.

If Lindolm stays at ~10, then we cant afford Nylander at ~10. Unless theres crazy roster gymnastics

Exactly my problem with that situation. Tough to seing that many deals that all make us better. I am all for putting sharangovich on the opposite side of huby.

Could any self respecting hockey fan say no Patrick Kane on their team though?
If we traded hanni for futures maybe we could throw enough at him for one year of Kaner/Lindy/Huby fun

How will you take on Nylander without sending any salary back? I'm all for it as a Flames fan, but if the Leafs move him to clear out cap space, then the Flames will find themselves in exactly the same situation. Having to move good players for futures in a terrible market.
