Seattle should find a job for Schneider once he finally does get canned.

****ing brutal weekend. Not much hope ending with a Monoah start. Wow, I was looking forward to this series, so much.

Nice to hear Jamie Campbell express some genuine frustration with this team on air. Saying they're one of the more frustrating blue jays teams to watch in their history, relative to their talent level.

Saving them for tomorrow after Manoah makes it through 1 2/3 innings

That may be wishful thinking.

Jays need to pick up an outfielder who can swing the bat. Varsho needs to ride the pine.

Couldn't watch the end of the game but saw on the box score that KK hit a fly ball with Merrifield on 3rd. Why wasn't he sent? Even if it wasn't that deep it would take a perfect throw to get Whit.

Mayza has pitched 3 times for a total of 2 Innings since the all star game and 4 2/3rds innings all of July

Unless he is hurt / dealing with a dead arm something doesn’t make sense

It was to very shallow centre. I'm guessing they didn't want to run into out number three with Springer due up next. With that said, the throw was 5 feet up the 3rd baseline, I think Whit would have been safe.

Tough call, I won't fault them on that one.

Should the Jays try and deal for Ohtani this season?

The Angels apparently want "multiple top-100 type prospects" to begin discussions so that pretty much takes them out of the running right away.

We ain't in it with our prospect pool. With our luck he'll probably end up on an AL east team, if that's any consolation?

They are def not one player away and prove it almost every game.

Baltimore has like 9 prospects in the top 100 so they would be able to take a shot at him if they wanted to. The Blue Jays only have Tiedemann. They would have had Frasso too had Atkins not gave him away to LA for White.

While there is zero chance the Jays get him, with Ohtani they are most likely in 1st in MLB

The guy is that rediculous

I don’t even care if we’re not “one player away”, I would absolutely deal for Ohtani just to have him in a Jays jersey. It would be such a treat to watch him in our own jersey.

Trading for Ohtani is really like upgrading 2 positions though - he has 28 home runs more than Belt at DH. And he gives you a great arm in the rotation as well, 4th in the AL in strikeouts.

If you're making the playoffs this year you have to be at least in the conversation for him. Realistically I don't think they're the high bidder, as the chances of signing him aren't high. Someone like the Dodgers or Mets might be willing to pay a premium for the opportunity to show him how great they are to work with.

But all that said, if I was trying to push I think I'd be looking for a left fielder who can hit, because Varsho isn't helping the offense right now.

You have to live and die with Varsho this season unless you sign someone on the FA market in the off-season.

As for Ohtani, I don't believe he has a long trajectory at both positions for very long. I'd venture to guess that there's at most three seasons of him being a dual position player? After that he's a one position all-star and isn't worth his pay. Angels would be wise to deal him but I don't think it's reasonable to expect him to be at his calibre the duration of his contract.

Anyone trading for/signing him is doing so with the plan of winning at least one world series in the next 3 years.

Juice would be worth the squeeze there, imo.

IMO, if you trade for him you better plan on winning a world series this year, because he likely is going to be a rental.

Not sure what incentive a player of his caliber has in signing a deal before he hits FA. He will literally have the entire league bidding for his services. Unless the team that trades for him wins it this season, it probably goes down as a bad, if not terrible trade for that team.

Glad the Jays don't have the assets.
