Here is a different spin on things.
Quote:
Developing nations that are fast industrializing, such as China and India, have braked their rising greenhouse gas emissions by more than the total cuts demanded of rich nations by the U.N.'s Kyoto Protocol.

.
Russia, for instance, has apparently done most among Kyoto nations with a 32 percent fall in emissions between 1990, a year before the Soviet Union fell apart, and 2004.

^^^^ Come on, that's a U.N. Report. Don't you know U.N. Reports are only about making the third world look good and making America look bad? Unless the reports comes from the American Entrerprise Institute, the Brookings Institute, or the Heritage Foundation, the findings are skewed and meant to damage America and our way of life. This information can't be trusted. Only information bought and paid for is worthy of aknowledgement!

Russia's probably a unique case... large sections of industry fell apart/shut down in the 90's when the economy collapsed... unless they collapsed it on purpose to meet emission targets! Crafty Russians... always thinking long term

You know its kinda funny.

Around here, at least 1-3 windmills get put up each day. Right now, I can look out my back window as see 30 windmills that weren't there in March. Of course it takes a while longer before they have the technical side sorted out, but they are going up.

And providing the wind doesn't stop, which it won't...they will continue to be built. Strange thing is, we have two environmental loonies(yes these two were loonies) that complained, whined, and bitched about the windmills when the project was first started.....according to them, they would have a 'negative' effect on the environment.

Now, we can't find the people to help put them up fast enough.

I get this.

But as someone who knows this (you and I), don't we have to do our best? Once we make the example we can ask others to make it.

I agree we are addicted to energy, but there are ways to reduce energy at every level while we wait for bettet technologies.

You seem to be coming from a 'the problem is too large and overwhelming' standpoint. Wouldn't it still be better to try and fail, then not to try at all? Wouldn't reducing our intake 10% be better than sighing and saying, 'it's no use, China won't do it, human culture is wasteful?'
