Less PTO's this year, and lots of open spots sounds encouraging. I wonder which agents called Conroy about the potential openings on the Flames.

This is impressive. What other team has a GM doing a 2 hour interview?

I thought that was a great interview and I’m a little surprised I let myself sit through the whole thing. A little less surprised a couple people found a reason to complain.

Conroy is just such a great person to listen to. Even more excited for the direction of this franchise now.

Don’t get the Rob Kerr hate at all. I genuinely enjoy his interviews and having met him, one of the nicest people you’ll come across.

That was a fun interview. Good seeing Conroy more relaxed.

Any new fans who listened to that just discovered that Craig Conroy is impossible not to like and that the stories about how much he loves to talk are in no way exaggerated (mean geez... he spent a half hour talking about hiring the AHL coach)

Not a whole lot going on in the interview thou. Some interesting anecdotes... I really kind of love that the reason he's not doing media (like basically everybody thought he would when he retired) is that he still wants to win a cup.

caught the tail end. Rob was making a leading statement to Craig about how fans don't understand how important home playoff dates are. I know exactly what that means and I have no time for it. Glad to see he's never changed even though Fan 960 doesn't pay him anymore.

When talking about taxes and player contracts, Conroy spoke about how the players are paid in $USD but the taxes are paid in $CDN. Something I don’t recall ever being mentioned before. He basically quashed the playing in the US vs playing in Canada tax discrepancy. He went on to say more then anything, attracting/ retaining players is about winning.

It's been quashed a few different times and ways. They also report their taxes to where ever there home is with exception to home games. So they only pay Alberta taxes for 41 games, the rest is taxed based on what your tax address is.

Rob was a bit aloof today though. I've seem him go into his radio pro mode better for other guests.

He's more laid back with conny for some reason, which also means he butts in more. Not sure why.

This is one of those ones where we just prefer that he be a sponge for information like the rest of us.

Still a good chat though.

Why are people ragging on Mackey?

He was an undrafted collegiate free agent who has got NHL games under his belt. That's a win. He wasn't a fit under Darryl, but he's a quality hockey player, who could still carve out a career as a serviceable defender.

Mackey reminded me.a ton of an young Gio. Remember #5? Back then. He wasn't so popular in the beginning and look where he ended up.

Scotty Bowman called him the most improved player in the league one year. Who the hell knows ? Mackey could end up a unicorn for someone.

I haven't finished watching but feel Kerr missed an opportunity to go deeper with Conroy when discussing the Adam Fox draft. They talked about a player (I guess Grimaldi) that wouldn't come to CAN and Fox apparently didn't voice the same.

Dive in Kerr! That's a big issue not so much the specific but the bigger Canadian issue.

Or why did Fox change his mind (if he did) did he feel blocked?

It was put on a platter Kerr ...
