Hey guys:
Just wondering if anyone knows the going rate salesmen use for cents per kilometer now when travelling.
Thanks.

Accepted CRA standard is $0.51 cents this year. Dont ask me how I know...
What your work pays you should be around that. $0.95 cents is awesome.

Man, I gotta talk to my boss. I think I'm getting ripped off. As of right now I receive a vehicle allowance of $475/mnth and a variable mileage rate depending on the monthly average price at the pump. Usually averages out to 11.5 - 12 cents per km.
Are most of you guys out of town salespeople or in town?

I get a Gas card and $0.28/km, but I have the option to go with $0.48/km and buy my own gas.

I get $0.45/km... if I have to use my vehicle, otherwise there is two vehicles, plus the delivery vans if they aren't in use and they all have cards to fill up at the city pumps. So the chances of me using my own car is very very slim, unlike my previous job where I had to use it.

Wow, everybody is getting more than I am. At my job we're getting $0.43 / km for work appointments. And this was just increased 6 months ago! <not in 'the industry' though>

I think that is moving expenses only.
CRA allows .50 for the first 5000km and .44 thereafter.

I am indeed field.
Wow, I'm surprised to see such low rates, with today's prices i'd be surprised if any of you break even on your expenses if you include Car payments, insurance, and gas. My rate also includes vehicle depreciation, i'm guessing that salesman rates don't include this then, but they should.

This is correct, anything over those above amounts is taxable as income.

Welcome to the Alberta Advantage. Anyone not a front line worker see their expenses go up, while income stays level because companies can't afford their exepenses either.
