Not sure if this has been said but next year wolf will get 30 starts. Markstrom will get 30 starts. Whoever gets the other 22 will be determined in those 30 games. No chance wolf isn’t getting 30 games next year. No point in wasting him in the AHL

I love Vladar but Wolfstrom duo 100% should be the deal.

This is a special competitor and he has to be playing decent minutes for the big club next season.

Well said. From everything I have watched, read, and heard that's what he does. He competes. He cares.

Is Vladar moveable, or is he more of a waivers situation?

Yes, a team like Columbus might be willing to see what they could get from him for a couple of seasons.

GOAT!
Move Markstrom, go with Wolf/Vladar. I mean, it's not like our goaltending can get any worse than it was this season.

I'd move Markstrom as well, if at all possible, given his uselessness and NMC
It was bad enough when he was a complete sieve against the oilers in that series, but then he turfs a whole entire season too?
Good riddance

Scoring Winger
If flames retained 2mm. I think there would be teams willing to roll the dice on 3 year left of markstrom for 4mm a year.
That saves flames $4mm cap too. Well roughly 3 as wolf would take up close to $1mm and keep vladar.

While I think many agree, the problem is that Markstrom would be more difficult to move.
33 years old, makes 6 mill, complete NMC, only had 89.2%, still has 3 years left, 3.1 goals saved below expected. Even in his "Vezina finalist" season, he was only 12th in goals saved above expected. He should not have been anywhere near the Vezina conversation IMO. Not with with him being that average in the most important and all encompassing goaltending metric.
Vladar, who is younger, and has 2 years at 2.2 mill, and had a higher save percentage, is much easier to move. Though I honestly don't think he has value either. He just doesn't have astronomic negative value like Markstrom does.

It’s a non-issue IMO; WORST case scenario you send Vladar down to the AHL and he gets claimed on waivers, meaning you get no return except for the cap space and a roster spot. If he clears I think you happily keep him in the AHL as an insurance policy in case there is an injury or if Wolf struggles or Markstrom completely craps the bed.
My preference would still be to trade Vladar this summer (assuming Markstrom doesn’t waive his NMC which I don’t think he would), but that is a decent plan B if that doesn’t work out.

He would probably win the Vezina while playing for the new team with the Flames still paying 2 million per year for him.

FWIW, it's the Flames account (and not the Wranglers) announcing this....

The award is a bit superfluous I suppose, but why not?
The award is awarded for Excellence in the Field of Excellence.

For as much as Goalies are voodoo, Wolf has done everything at every single level. Tough not to get your hopes up.
2x WHL Goalie of the Year
1x CHL Goalie of the Year
2x AHL Goalie of the Year
1x AHL MVP
and whatever this player excellence award is
This kid is special
