They're claiming that the cinder drop rate nerf in Diablo IV is a bug and should be hotfixed soon.. and are having a fireside chat on Friday and discussing things.. maybe explaining how the Malignant Hearts make up for the changes.
I guess it makes sense if the goal is to push everyone into Season 1 and the Battle Pass.

Ok, I ran into my kryptonite. Foooooking spiders. Had to get the girl to do that section. Bleeeeech.
Passed on the D4 stuff y'all been talking about, to her and my son. I had 0 idea what you were talking about, so she explained it to me. How rude. </stephanietanner>
Oh yeah, I remember the spiders.
Yeah, D4 is a different game. I am tempted to set it aside for a year or two and come back later. So many games to play!

That's actually a good point. Hammer the crap out of everyone and "force" them to pay up every season to try maybe to catch back up. Metacritic user reviews getting nerfed.
Huh, I just saw Overwatch is coming to steam? Probably all the rest of their games as well.
I could do without the separate Battlenet launcher.
Almost guaranteed you'll still need Battle.net and it will launch itself when you start the game from Steam. Same as any Ubisoft game and their stupid Connect launcher

Man, I'd give anything to experience the Uncharted series for the first time again. A beautiful intertwining of acting, character building, storytelling, graphics and gameplay.
Minnie - the movie SUUUUUUUCKS compared to the game. Just FYI in case you got your hopes up.
Tiny potential spoiler.
Spoiler!
Did you get to the part where Nathan is climbing up the ladder behind his lady friend and goes "it's a shame you have to sit on something so nice!" lol, makes me belly laugh.

EDIT: Or maybe the question should be what's a reasonable number of hours to expect to play to reach the level cap? 100? 200? More? Games where I've put more than 50 hours in like an AC or Divinity 2 all are that long because the content is there.
Why do you worry about hitting the level cap? If you reached the end of the story and the end credits, why do you need to hit max level? It's optional. That's pretty normal in many RPGs too. I never hit Level 99 on any character in Diablo 2. The best I managed was late 80s-early 90s.
What kind of complexity? I.e. what does PoE offer in the end game?
I do remember seeing a video where it showed the skill tree and it looked really complex, but not sure that's what you're talking about.
Basically there are a number of different ways you can do your endgame. You always end up at a point where you're doing "maps" which is the equivalent of nightmare dungeons in Diablo 4. But then you also have an "atlas" skill tree which you can tailor the 'affixes' to your maps.
Each league/season has their own little gimmick, and because PoE has had so many seasons, a lot of those mechanics that were well received got added to the base game. You can tailor your map drops at the end game to more likely drop the types of maps you want to do.
As an example, some people love doing a season mechanic that is essentially tower defense, and tailor their builds to surviving those because they find them to be rewarding and the gear that drops is quite good. You can modify your atlas to drop ONLY those types of maps and play them to your hearts content. You don't have to do the content you don't want to.
In addition to that, because of how complex and difficult PoE is, many people (myself included) haven't even completed the Atlas and the final "uber" bosses that come with that. There are just so many end game bosses that I haven't even seen and I've pumped almost 1k hours into the game.
Also, because of how big the skill tree is, you will find yourself maybe a bit overwhelmed as a beginner. And that is by design, because PoE isn't meant for everyone. It's tailored to a specific audience that isn't afraid of bricking their build (choosing the wrong talents) and having to restart from scratch.
It's often why people will suggest finding a Zizaran guide on Youtube and starting by following a build guide first before getting into doing your own builds. When the skill tree 'clicks' it is super rewarding.
The game also has a trade site that you can search for specific items/mats/gear that you need to complete your build if you have horrible RNG and can't find it.
Uniques / Legendaries in PoE aren't the best gear items in most cases (with a few exceptions like the "headhunter" belt and "mageblood" belt). In most cases, a really well rolled Yellow item will be your Best in Slot for your build.
There's probably a ton more, but people who are hardcore into ARPGs will often flock right back to PoE whenever the new ARPG they try doesn't quite 'hit' for them. Like how I am feeling after D4's disappointment.
Sorry for the wall.

I definitely don't have to, just a question from a game design point of view. It's there so there has to be some level of expectation of how long it should take to get there.
As you say generally you level up to whatever you need to do accomplish your goal (complete the main story, engage whatever post story content you want, etc).
If the goal is the progression itself then I think it's reasonable to wonder what kind of time investment is required to achieve it.
As an aside I think I may have spoiled myself playing Rogue.. trying out a Barbarian for season 1 and man is it ever slow. I got too used to the speed buffs for Rogue running around a dungeon at horse speed.

I've seen the movie & totally forgot about it. I didn't even connect the two, it made such a non-impression on me, lmao.

YES. Died laughing. So many little quips I hear as I'm playing, it takes a second to realize what they've just said and then I have to pause it to laugh.
Finally finished Uncharted 2, I didnt play over the weekend, as we were away (usually are on weekends) -now onto 3. But, it will wait until tomorrow. Well, later today.
So far, the Uncharted games are like "aren't I a fun little game of exploring and treasure hunting?! And, mostly realistic!" and then throw Nazi zombies & mutant Yeti & resin eating gorilla men at you.
I got it teed up, ready to go. I see we're in the desert this time? So, alien camels next, I suppose.
I'm a little late to the chat but the whole falling building was insane back in the day.
And this is the crazy dagger I have kicking around here somewhere lol.
The "Oh, Elena Fisher. Last Year's model." quip is always funny. Knowing where things lead in the series.
I'm a little late to the chat but the whole falling building was insane back in the day.
Oh yeah, that was wild. That took me a couple of tries to survive.
ETA:
1) Sully (never mind, lol)
2) Firehead people/Djin or whatever they are - TF?!
3) Talbot is a Djin? Or not.
4) AGAIN WITH THE SPIDERS?
5) this LSD trip can just end already
ETAA: Finished. I think 3 might be my favorite so far. I've got 4 on order from the library and it's been shipped, so hopefully it doesn't take a week.

That's it, I'm re-playing the whole series. It's been too long, and I barely remember anything about 3 or 4 since I only played them once each
Interesting to see 3 might be your fav, I remember it not having much of an impression on me after thinking 2 might be one of my favourite games of all time. Excited to try it out again though!

Nice!
I enjoyed 2 more than 3 myself. 4 was a big step up in graphics especially if you can play it on a PS5 (And I think it comes with Lost Legacy together that way too). The Photo mode and insane details in that game are wild.
Don't forget about that spin off, it was pretty good. You and your daughter might like it even more after you are done with 4. Claudia Black is always awesome!
Speaking of Claudia Black, there is a playthrough of the 2nd game with Nolan North (voice actor of Nathan Drake) and various other voice actors and people that made the game including:
Emily Rose - Elena
Claudia Black - Chloe
Graham McTavish - Lazarevic and Cutter (wild he did both)
Amy Hennig - Game Director
Troy Baker (you'll find out in 4, don't look it up)
They add in neat stuff about them making the game back in the day.

Yeah, all this Uncharted talk has me itching to go again lol.
Are they gonna do a remaster of the remaster for the PS5?

That's putting it mildly, that game came out 7 years ago and it could still compete with the best looking games being released today. I remember playing it and thinking... this is it, they really don't need to push graphics further than this. And I honestly don't think anyone has to any noticeably significant degree. Obviously from a technical standpoint they have, but to a casual observer the advancements since then are negligible.
