Sabres probably make the most sense. Get a good reliable 200ft vet in there to show the kids the ropes.

I doubt that Florida wants to dismantle the team that went to the Stanley cup finals for a number of players who haven’t enjoyed that kind I’d success.

I should try this on NHL 23 and see if it actually works

Yup, Coronato is going to be a player. Can't wait to watch him full time. He's impressed at every level and tournament.

As for Backlund, I would do Backs for Krebs straight across.

Buffalo would be crazy to part with him, but man- I would trade Lindholm straight across for that kid.

These types of trades, where the Flames trade a star on their way out for an elite prospect, have been the best trades in franchise history.

Same.

I would really want the team doctors involved though because ruptured Achilles tendons can really derail someone's career.

Karlson had a similar injury in the 2012-2013 season and came back as good as ever. Karlson only tore his tendon though (70% tear) and Quinn has completely ruptured his. Pacioretty has ruptured his Achilles tendon twice now (same foot) and I have no idea if he will ever play again due to this.

The injury is quite rare in hockey but it is a lot more prominent in the NBA where if often shaves years off of a player's career. Its no joke.

The Devils with Hellebuyck would have to be considered one of the strongest teams out of the east

Yeah, but their D is an issue, as is the general undersized forwards. Reminds me of the Leafs trying the run and gun a few years ago. Makes for great entertainment, but placing money on them to win with the same players top to bottom is a little much. I think they need to be a little more Carolina defensively.

Cmp Dave posted on Twitter (might have deleted it but took a screenshot of mods want to see) that Avs wanted backs at 50% for a 3rd and contract back (he listed McDermid). Given that Avs didn’t have their 3rd this past year, it was either a 2024/25 3rd or he’s blowing smoke or it’s a fresh offer. Avs have 2.8m left in cap room so Backs at 50% and taking a contract back is doable. Also gives us $1.7m in cap space. Might be able to get 1 or 2 bargain ufas near league minimum with the space we would open up. Can move one of the C they brought in to wing and put backs in top 9.

Not ideal return but if we can make cap room to bring in a good player, might have to think of it from that perspective, if we are wanting to improve the team in the off season in a tight market. As much as we think Backs should fetch a bigger return, the market is the market. And just don’t want the distraction during the season.

I don't see it being a distraction at all and I would rather see what the deadline brings or how the team is competively than deal him at 50% retained for a cap dump and a late 3rd.

I think Conny will just wait until the TDL to trade Backs- we might get more for him at that time.

Put it this way. We move backlund and free up some room and that would allow us to sign a ufa. Decent value to be had.

And then the question is why would a team give up assets for Backlund when they could sign one of these UFA’s?
