All teams do awful things equally is not true.
There are more and less principled people in the world, and this includes hockey teams.

Sheehy
Huselius
Lucic
Patrick
Quinn

Compared to the Oilers:

Souray
Jason Smith
Damphousse
Courtnall

This is exactly the kind of crap that needs to stop. Any franchise is pathetic enough to grab whoever they think will help them win, morality be damned. The Flames are no better - and no worse -then any other team in this regard, and distilling the kind of sick stuff in this threat to "Har har my team is better than yours" is pretty pathetic, to be honest. The subject matter deserved better than "Rah rah my team"
4. Lmao. Tell me you have no idea in a single post.

Add;
MacTavish
Kane
Katz
Comrie
Messier. Yes. Messier.
Brian Wiseman
Bob Nicholson
Stoll
Torres
Tikkanen
Klima
Pocklington
Minard
Kassian
Salo
Cote

That’s a start, many more surely…

This is a pretty pointless exercise. Most of these players listed played for more than one team, and some of them played barely at all for either team (Krivokrasov played 12 games in a Flames uniform). A lot of the time, the allegations came out after the player played for the team (Huselius and Oliwa for example), or just weren't public knowledge at all at the time. Also, a lot of players have done crappy things and we will never know about it.

The Oilers did sign Kane after some of his dirt was already known, and gave Virtanen a PTO after his rape allegations. But the Flames also brought in Gilmour after his scandal, and he also went on to play for the Leafs.

I would like to think the Flames, and most NHL teams, would be more cautious of whom they bring in these days when it comes to character. Edmonton's recent track record isn't great, I will admit that.

Theo was perfectly fine when he was playing for the Flames. I remembered him as a victim more than anything

What he has done after he retired is a different discussion which I don’t really care for

Paul Stastny openly supported and donated to the Freedumb Convoy while comparing Canada to Soviet-era Czechoslovakia.

Yeah he’s just dumb.

Never attribute to bad intentions that which is adequately explained by other causes (e.g., stupidity, ignorance, carelessness, incompetence)

A lot of people forget that a sizeable portion of NHLers have hardly any education and live in a bit of a bubble surrounded by people who only work on their hockey skill set.

It’s also why agents wield such power over them.

It sounds like he's saying they're often less educated and knowledgeable on those subjects.
Not that they're actually dumber.

On the whole I tend to agree, although he did technically fund a seditious movement. We can laugh at their half-baked methods and incompetence all day, but a not insignificant segment of that convoy were there to overthrow the government.

Not raping or beating people, but a scummy dude either way.

That, plus if you have a less educated and knowledgeable, the actually dumb ones will be even more prone to being misled. Because they will be led easily.

Tell me you have comprehension issues in a single line. First of all, I was going by the database posted. Secondly, you missed the point completely, so good job. Glad the Oilers hate overrides everything, even common sense.

The point is, many players are ######bags, and you can't say one team is more supportive. This stuff goes back years and years. Multiple teams. Multiple ownerships. Multiple management groups. Multiple coaches. Muliple teammates.

If a team thinks a player can help, they'll go after that player. For the most part, they don't care about anything else. Flames, Oilers, Leafs, Rangers, whoever and whenever. And these are only the ones we know about.

If these players did stuff before or after they played for the Flames, guess what? They were probably terrible people when they played for the Flames, too. Their teammates and coaches were probably aware. Fans will usually support who plays for them and not who plays for the enemy, which is absolutely terrible to boil who is a terrible person down to what team they play for.

It's certainly not something we should be keeping score on.

I disagree with the premise that we should not keep score on these types of things. Figuring out who does better, who does worse, then supporting better, is the fundamental engine for how we can improve things.

Saying everybody does it so they are all the same, is how to support bad people doing bad things. It provides cover for the behaviour, and removes any incentive to improve.

The world is not perfect, and it is easy to look at big problems and say it is hopeless. But history has shown that we do not need perfect solutions, we only need to keep choosing better, and over time it adds up.

So yes, I absolutely keep score and vote with my wallet for whoever is doing the better.

Sure, but is any team really doing better just because they happen to employe less people who are scumbags off the ice? We don't even know if they really do, because there are probably a ton of stuff that is unreported.

With very few exceptions, all teams will sign and employee people who have done terrible things in the name of winning. So if we know Calgary has employed ten and Edmonton has employed twelve, for example, then can you really say Calgary is better?

On the other hand, if Edmonton employed twelve and Calgary had none, and had a long-standing policy to stay away from them, that's something different. For example, Yzerman seems to be willing to cut bait with players who don't meet his character quotient (first in TB, now in Det). But he'll still trade them to someone else who will employ them.

It's a shame Yzerman's character quotient doesn't seem to consider homophobia.
