Wasnt it him and another Russian who were suspended by the IIHF for testing positive for cocaine?

Of course he does, he is employed by them. That doesn't mean when Connor asks him about his experience going to the States he won't go on about how great it was for the game and how much better the experience was. Wayne might be an Oiler employee and alumni but he is also a businessman and the OG of growing the game South of the border. Him and Connor have become very close friends, the kind of friends that are honest with eachother. Publically Wayne will say all the right things but he is going to tell his friend and the current face of the league he needs to get the hell out of Edmonton if he doesn't want to waste his talent and major US endorsement opportunities.

Yup I would love to get out of that contract.
Give them a legit top 6 center for the rest of Ovis career. Kuznestov can be a stop gap for us.
Still can't believe we gave up a 1st to sign it.
I would feel ALOT better with pur situation of we had 7mil in cap space and an extra 1st coming up.

It is like some of you missed what Kadri said the other day. Look, he has fallen in love with Calgary, he has moved pretty much every family member he has there. He has won a SC and had a big ticket contract. There is no reason at all at this time that he would waive his NMC to be traded. We are stuck with Kadri, let's all hope he has a great season.

Yeah fans need to realize that Calgary is now home to the Kadri's and they like it here. I'm not sure he would waive his NTC if they asked.

I like how it’s apparent the Flames need a PR boost with players specifically after the previous and current exodus yet some fan suggestions seem to be to jettison the last two big money long term contracts signed.
Nothing says come play for us like treating new players like Amazon Prime returns. Cmon man

I would argue that Kadri was one of our best forwards up to the all-star break. He was definitely someone that gave up on the coach and I am not worried about him bouncing back next year at all. As far as I am concerned he is the reason that Backlund had such a good year. Backlund was pushed back on the depth chart which and allowed him to play where he probably would play on 90% of contending teams. Kadri finished with 56 points and usually its safe to assume for every 10 points the player is worth 1 million. So he played like a 5.5 million dollar player that also opened up the ice for a player in his mid-30’s to have a career year and exceed his point totals from the year before by 17 points.

Well when you don’t get what you ordered it’s a rational thought, regardless of where you’re from.

Kuznetsov also got busted in that video of him in Vegas, surrounded by cocaine and random women (likely escorts):
https://russianmachineneverbreaks.co...-with-cocaine/
He was suspended by the NHL for the IIHF incident too (for 3 games):

Pretty dumb of Kuznetsov to get caught. Cocaine only stays detectable in your system for a couple of days, which means he was using the drug within a couple of days prior to when he knew he had a good chance of getting tested. It could indicate he has a larger problem. He did undergo drug counselling after the suspensions.

Kadri was without a doubt the best forward for the first 1/3 of the season. He definitely still has it in him to be a great player.

Who was that guy for LA that got caught with drugs and just said "screw it, I'm going home, screw you NHL." Karalahti?

I disagree, drug abuse is still a huge problem. Maybe not narcotics, but prescription pill abuse is endemic.

I'm sure he's a nice enough guy, I just really don't want to watch him and Huberdeau for the next decade.
I hated the move when it happened, and last year has soured me even more on it.
It's difficult for me to buy into these guys. I don't like building a core by signing other teams' old UFA's to big long-term contracts. It's not engaging as a fan. I want a fresh start of young high end talent after the Monahan, Gaudreau, Bennett and Chucky era.
I never said it was realistic. We're definitely stuck with him and Huberdeau for next few years.

I don't think that we're stuck with huberdeau. I think after this season plays out, we'll be happy to have him.

I actually don’t have an issue with Huberdeau or Weegar.
The Kadri signing is the one that chaps my a$$.
Having to trade a 1st to boot is just a kick in the nuts.
I don’t understand the plan for re-signing Lindholm and Hanifin if all that cap space was given to Kadri.
