Idiotic Job Application websites (Workday, Successfactors, Smartr, etc) that take formatted text in entry fields seemingly OK (i.e. line breaks for paragraphs), but barf out said nicely formatted paragraphs into a single mass of text, with a pile of <br> html tags sprinkled throughout.
Just applied to a job that emphasizes attention to detail and the free text section looks like a hot mess. Can't edit it. Awesome.

Celebrated Square Root Day
|
Got my annual reminder that during stampede taxis/ubers will literally just stop on McLeod and put their hazards on if the taxi line up is out to Mcleod trail at Ranchmans. Almost got sandwiched in a pile up tonight when a taxi pulled this move.
Luckily everyone stopped in time.
Had to swerve around two taxis in a row stopped there 3 days ago.

When I was 19 I rear ended a car on McLeod during stampede.
In my defense there were two chicks walking down the sidewalk in short short skirts and bikini tops.

I got the stink-eye today, like I was budging in front when I re-opened the door and got on (the train was stopped for a while) because other people waiting were too meek to squeeze in and get people to try a little harder to move towards the middle. I could see through the windows that there was a lot of room for way more people to get on if people stopped being so precious about their personal space or hanging out close to the doors. It’s not budging if no one else is willing to get on.
Maybe this is an AITA situation. I don’t think I am, but I didn’t feel like waiting for a third train. It should be fair game, right? The people who didn’t get on, made a choice of comfort over getting somewhere faster.

If you've ever taken transit in a mega city like Chicago or NY, aggressive squishing is the norm.

I avoid Memorial Drive West for the same reason.

Single lane on the cross street you were turning onto?
I've been the right-turner onto a two-lane with a yield sign, and honked at for not proceeding because rightfully the left-turning traffic opposite me should have taken the left lane and I could have taken the right lane. But, that's predicated on the idea that the guy turning left will keep to the left lane on the cross-street, as they're supposed to. Often, they don't, so I tend to drive defensively and assume the left-turners will turn into the right lane.
But yeah, if it's one lane and the right-turner opposite you has a yield sign, WTF what a dummy you had the right-of-way.

This one happens to me at least once a week and a coupe of weeks ago it was every single day.
Turning right from SB 7 Street onto 6 Ave SE. Dual turn lane so the inside lane should turn into the inside lane (and 2nd lane since the right lane on 6th is also used for parking) on 6 Ave. Outside turn lane on 7th should turn into the 3rd lane on 6th (and people often go into the 5th lane too which is okay).
It's stunning how many times I've been cut off by someone on the inside lane turning onto 6th and immediately shooting over 5 lanes so they can get onto SB 8th Street.

Yup, she was here:

in the protected turn area with the yield sign right there as I turned left onto 40th from 4th.

Ohhhh I'm familiar with that one too. I don't trust anyone in the curb lane on 7th Street not to turn into the second lane from the right on 6th Ave at the very least. (If only because the right curb lane on 6th is basically a de facto bus-only lane during rush hour...)

I presume that's still the case. More than once in years past I've wanted to turn left onto SB 4th Street and ended up behind someone in the turn lane who wanted to continue straight...

Ya, it's a design that leads to endless accidents as people take the exit lane then cut back in front to bail on turning. There is a permanent collection of glass and plastic in the curb areas that memorialize all the smashes.

Ah, it's just a pinch it'll be fine in a few days. What a pain in the ass.
*one week later*
I'm going to have to go to a doctor and check to see if there is a fracture.

Ever made a brisket before? That colour is indicative of all that smoky deliciousness from the Traeger smoker that has become Alberta.
