I actually enjoyed when George Stombolopolos or whatever his name is was hosting. Wasn’t a fan when they decided to roll back those changes to the old men.

Surprised Steve Dangle has fans at all. He’s simply a face expression actor who spends the entire time screaming at the screen. The “look at me” self indulgence of McLean that people some don’t like, is personified times ten in Steve Dangle. I can smell that guy through the screen. Hard pass if they go down that direction. Could see this considering the costs of in person game calling, and the trials going on with mlb at the moment, that they resort to schticks like this.

Hopefully, a front office scoops her up soon. She's brilliant.

She's excellent and was already doing some games for the US networks during playoffs. I think she even did colour. I'm 100% sure she'll get a permanent spot on one of them asap.

Botterill is really good. She’s the full package where she’s definitely hired on merit. Terrible decisions if true.

Romo makes $17 million a year and Olson $10 million. You aren't going to lure a newly retired NHL player (Marleau for example) to spend his winters doing color for $100k CAD. The reason dinosaurs are still doing color is that most of them didn't make millions of dollars when they played and doing color was a means to make a supplemental income. Nowadays even depth players end up retiring as millionaires.

I just listened to Don Cherry’s podcast for first time. Yeesh. Random detours and hearing him try to say Van Riemsdyk was brutal. He doesn’t sound well.

I will be surprised if Bieksa is gone. Not only is he insightful, but he is the most entertaining panellist. I assume Hurdey will still be doing the Flames' games. I am glad to see Ron gone, however. Feel bad for him personally as you never want to see people lose their jobs, but I just didn't enjoy listening to him for a good many years now - probably a decade. Friedmen I find good and bad. I think I liked him a lot more when he was just this really nice and humble dude.
I hope that it actually improves, but I have my doubts. I guess I will withhold my overall take on this until we see exactly who is leaving and staying, and who the replacements are. Hopefully this is a positive in the long run.

i don't remember the last time i watched any intermission stuff. as soon as the period was over i'd change the channel to a different game. take a quick look at the clock on the wall and 18 minutes later go back to the first game i was watching.
if there were no other games on at the same time i'd just watch something else on tv for 18 minutes.

Remember about 20 years ago the outcry when Ron MacLean looked to be leaving because he and CBC couldn't agree to a new contract?
How times have changed. MacLean is well past his best before date and Rogers can't wait to be rid of the dinosaur and his large salary, and I don't think that the public will shed any tears this time around.
Allowing Rogers to monopolize the NHL rights, especially for this long, was a big mistake. For everyone. The NHL, Rogers, the fans.

The NHL got greedy and jumped at the money and keeping the HNIC legacy on CBC.
Its time to move on asap CBC is dead and HNIC on CBC is a outdated idea.
The next Canadian deal need to involve multiple providers. TSN seemed to survive without the NHL while Sportsnet feels like its on its deathbed half the time.
Sportsnet has like 10 channels and 9 of them play the same game on Saturday night. You can have more late games, I don't care for a 2:30 game on a Saturday in the middle of winter for the FLames.

From what I can tell nobody else has picked up on this story. I have a hard time believing that Berger is the only one on this.

I think that CBC could and should be involved in the bidding the next time around. And TSN and some streaming platforms as well.
Getting Hockey Night in Canada back properly (and not just carrying it for Rogers and making nothing on it) fits with the CBC's mandate of providing content relevant to Canadians, they could make money off of the advertising again (thus lowering their reliance on taxpayer funding), and they did actually have a good quality product.
So get CBC and TSN back in the mix. The more competition, the better.

Change is good...we need a fresh batch of broadcasters for people to start whinging about.

Agreed. Full Turd. Like those guys that scream at the top of their lungs playing video games on YouTube. Turds.

The dude is touchin' 90...he probably wears those orthotic New Balance shoes with Velcro straps.
He's doing a podcast? He probably doesnt even know where he is.
Get him back on the HNIC panel! Lets stir up a little Anarchy!
Get Sean Avery as the HNIC host lobbing questions at senile Cherry. Lets get nuts!!
You may say its madness, but I guarantee you the ratings would be amazing!
