What if you wore a pro-Notley shirt? Bet they'd have noticed that

But this is the whole point. We elect leaders who create a safe space for homophobia and other forms of hatred.

I don’t care about the guy in the shirt. I care that our leaders don’t stand up for our citizens.

PPs continual stupidity of actively trying to lose votes in the GTA is maddening. He and the party are squandering their opportunity and Canada regardless of your political stance is worse off for it.
Nah. This is 100% a team sport now. If you criticize my leader, then you are against my team. So I'm going to come after your "leader"

If they don't do it on purpose then we are still left with a major problem. Not only does your message/presence resonate with bigots to the point they are comfortable and emboldened enough to openly show their support for you, but also you're too incompetent to be aware that you need to scrutinize your supporters so as not to appear as bigots yourself - a major focus of your detractors and opposition painting you as exactly to be what you constantly personify.

They don't get the benefit of the doubt when they've embodied these same attitudes and ideas throughout their party, from the top down. You know these people are settled in your camp. If you really gave a #### at how abhorrent these ideas are you think you would have the basic presence of mind and decency to stunt them instead of giving another meaningless apology after the fact. They are either doing it on purpose or are indifferent until they get caught. It's the same thing. It's too commonplace to be considered an accident.

Of course these types of Neanderthals don't show up for the Liberal and NDP photo-ops. Even so, why aren't Notley and Co. caught posing for photos with people in T-shirts expressing extreme left ideologies, because those folks are just as bold and attention-seeking as their counterparts on the right? Would they even exist? Like, would a "Defund the Police" or a Che Guevara shirt be all that controversial anyway?

Maybe after PP stops being a stupid bigot he can cure cancer. Both seem equally possible.

As expected post election, UCP is taking more steps to gut healthcare. Their first step will be introducing "Health Spending Accounts". I'm expecting them to take steps towards user fees and a new slate of the usual privatization to crony insiders, possibly the sale of hospitals that Smith was previously championing.

“My approach here first is we need to get the policy right before we worry about building the technology. And we’ve got a lot of work to do with the minister of finance, minister of health, and probably a few other ministers to make sure that we’ve thought through all of the angles of what would a spending account look like, what should it look like and let’s make sure that it’s designed well from the ground up, and then we’ll get on to figuring out the rest of the technology.”
Quote:
“Obviously this would be a significant technological proposal, would require quite a bit of work on behalf of the government, quite a bit of expense to stand up,” Edmonton-Centre MLA David Shepherd told Global News. “And what we’ve seen from the UCP government is they have been pretty bad at this before when they’ve tried to set up other similar payment programs and systems for Albertans.”

Lorian Hardcastle, an associate professor in the Faculty of Law and Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary, previously described health spending accounts as an “extremely inefficient way of trying to improve access to health services,” one that does not address the unequal distribution of health issues within a population.
Gah! Experts! The gaul of these people! Best not to listen to them.

Sounds financially prudent. I'm sure this experiment with adding red tape, overhead, and bureaucracy to an already ####ed health system should fix things right up. Same with handing public dollars to woo-woo medicine. We'll have cancer tackled in no time. Looking forward to burning through my account by February.

Thanks, UCP voters. Nice move.

I know a UCP voter that thinks if the HSA is enabled, and people now have a limited amount of free money to waste Dr's time with, that this will save money in the long run. It will also apparently allow those that are healthy the ability to "opt out" of funding these peoples frivolous appointments, and his taxes will go down as a result.

Apparently these are the same people who've never seen the billboards that push people to use their benefits before the end of December to get a massage or whatever?

I really want to know, who are these people wasting doctors' time and how are they doing it?

Recent anecdotal experience in the system: I just went to a walk in and had to wait an hour for 5 minutes with a doctor to get a piece of paper for an x-ray, and then when he got the x-ray results he sent me to urgent care where I had to wait another 4 hours for 5 minutes with a different doctor.

"Other" people are wasting the doctor's time! The doctor should be for ME! If there weren't people wasting the doctor's time with THEIR health concerns, you wouldn't have had to wait so long!

I don't understand the point of the HSA at all (aside from the malevolent long term intentions). If the desire is to enhance health proactivity, there are so many better options (sugar tax for starters)

It takes a while to dig it out of them, but it always comes down to immigrants as the reason we have most problems.

My significant other worked in a doctor's office previously and they had a few people that would come in at least once a week with the most minor issues or questions. Those are the people that are wasting resources. There was one old woman who would come in every couple days but she was a rich widow living in Britannia so running out of HSA wouldn't keep her from her regular visits. In her situation, at least she provided some really nice Christmas gifts for the staff and even gifts for their kids.

Another government contract awarded to former UCP insider, this time Danielle Smith's former campaign manager gets $1.5M. No wonder we can't afford proper healthcare when so much the government coffers go to former campaign managers/staffers ala. the healthcare cleaning contract and $Billions in payouts to oil companies to bail out failing pipelines/refineries/oil well cleanups (that the oil companies were legally obliged to clean up without government subsidies).
