Cozens is simply not available.

They love him and he’s signed long term to a good contract.

The only thing that really interests me is their first round pick. If you look at bigger trades in recent years that turned into steals for the selling team, it was the first round pick that everyone assumed would be a poor pick that turned into a most valuable return. The Ottawa Senators trade for Duchene sent over a first round pick to the Avalanche that turned into Bowan Byram at 4th overall. The San Jose Sharks trade for Karlsson sent over a first round pick for Ottawa that turned into Tim Stuzle at 3rd overall. Those picks were assumed to be much lower in the draft than they ended up being.

I think even with the Elias Lindholm, the bruins would be due for a drop. I know people have said that for a few years now without it really happening… but losing Krecji, Bergeron and Hall should be a huge hit to their core. I could see that team taking one of the bigger steps back in the eastern conference. So that first round pick could be something that right now is perceived by many to be a late pick that could run into a really valuable asset.

Yeah I agree, it wouldn't be my favorite partner either. Nothing they could trade us for lindy screams high end potential.

I could still see it happening though.

Debrusk/zacha + lysell/poitras + 2025 1st would be in the ballpark

Edit: debrusk is pending UFA amd zacha has 10 team no trade, so they probably don't make a ton of sense.

I just had literally 5min in the car, was the interview with Conroy Pat was having live? Or was it earlier?

I basically dropped in partway and had to leave before it ended, but is there a reason he dropped Nylander's name in it? This was in the context of discussing Kylington coming back before the season vs during and he was basically saying "Ya it's hard to come back in the middle of the season, look at Nylander..."

It's probably nothing... or it's something and he let slip and we shouldn't even be talking about it to ensure everything goes the way he wants it to.

The way I see it the flames still have quite a bit of work to do this off season.

First this team needs to clear some cap space and free up 1 or 2 roster spots minimum. It's a shame the market is so soft right now, AFAIK there isn't enough space to ice a full roster. At bare minimum there should be at least 1 more trade before the regular season starts.

Secondly, IF we can open up some space, I think this team is in desperate need of a top line forward. Theoretically the assets from selling Vladar, Hanifin and perhaps Backlund should be enough to get a good high end winger. If we sell those 3 and bring back only 1 player , the depth should be quite strong while allowing some over our ripened prospects play more.

Centers: Lindy, Kadri, Dube,
Rw: New guy, Coleman, Coronato
LW:Huby, Bread, pelletier,
Forwards of undefined position (and difficult spelling): Ruzicka, Deuhr, Sharangovich.

LD: Weegar, Killington, Zad
RD:Anderson, Taney, Gilbert?

Markstrom/Wolf

That doesn't look like a bad team on paper to me, assuming the new guy is Nylander quality and Huberdeau rebounds. I just hope Conroy can get something done before the season gets going.

There’s really no (realistic) package of any players on the Flames I’d be happy with seeing Cozens traded for.

Considering that the talk was that Sabres offered olofsson and a 3rd for hanifin at the draft, you have to believe that if they are still interested in Hanifin, they are trying to send olofsson back in any deal. And I don’t think Marky would be in the mix, rather vladar.

Given that the Sabres went and signed a bunch of D, imagine they would want to send d back in any deal. But outside of the Sabres top 3, you are looking at taking back a 5-6 d in any potential deal.

Would hope that a deal involving Vladar and Hanifin would bring back olofsson a d and one would hope a good prospect. Conny has said they want a top 6 f and despite his flaws, olofsson can score. Would acquiring olofsson be enough to convince lindholm to sign long term? Dunno. But have to wonder what else is being offered. I don’t think we are going to win a hockey trade with hanifin in it, hopefully we can get a future piece as part of the deal which may work out for us in the long run.

That’s crazy. I would do lindholm and hanafin for cozens. I’m not even sure buffalo would accept that.

Apparently isles offered pageau, wahlstrom and a first for Debrincat. So suspect that’s what they might be offering for another top 6 or top 4 dman. A bit underwhelming. If we took a deal like this, would allow backlund to slot up to number 2 c and potentially shift lindy to rw. So a kadri/backs/pageau c depth and replace tofolli with lindy on rw. If pageau would come here with his ntc. And if we could get bolduc as part of package.

Yeah if you want to ever feel better about the Flames' prospects just look at the Islanders. Yuck.

Wahlstrom doesn't look like he will be able to produce at the NHL level. I liked him during his draft year, but it hasn't translated.

Would also love Pageau tbh if they consider him a dump and we can get value back in a Backlund deal.

Also get minimal protection on that pick which is far more valuable than a Bruins pick. Top 5 protected and you have a half decent chance it lands in the 6-15 range which would be huge.

All for this deal.

Didn’t the Islanders offer Kadri more money or term? I’d take that package for Kadri!

He’s only 23, and has plenty more to give. He’s American though, that’s the downside. 2 of his last 3 seasons were approaching 0.5 ppg. He’s 6’2”, skates well, and plays chippy.
