It was an awesome episode ... I love Monday night TV ... Heroes AND 24. It's like a testosterone overload. Woo!
I loved the last scene with Claire .... "Sylar ..."
He is an awesome, awesome villian.
Will they go through with NYC's nuclear destruction?

Isn't Mica dead? At least that's what I got from Jessica/Nikki and Peter's argument.
Best episode yet, I think, and I'm looking forward to the final 3 episodes.

Yeah, I was discussing that with my gf earlier too... did Peter say that Mica was "gone" or "dead"?
Seemed like he was a pretty important character to just kill off like that.

Mica was dead in that alternate future but he's not dead in the present.
Is the scar on Peter's face from his battle with Sylar or was that from something else unexplained? Sylar tried to cut his head open when they fought and the scar was diagonally down his face, so it doesn't seem like its from that battle.
Interesting twist that Sylar had assumed Nathan's identity. I gotta admit I didn't see that one coming.
I thought the coolest part of the episode is where Peter burst into the room after Hiro got electrocuted and froze time. The battle at the place where they were holding Hiro was pretty cool too -- very Matrix like.

Okay, they were saying that Sylar is still alive because Hiro tried to kill him, but couldn't some time before the bomb, because they didn't save the cheerleader and Sylar took her power... so how is Claire still alive in that scene when Sylar begins to cut open her head, when that scene takes place in the future after the bomb already went off?

Nope. They never said that Sylar took Claire's powers - something else prevented Hiro from killing Sylar.
But damn. What a cool episode.
Damn.

Looks like a new power is introduced - Sylar takes someone's 'Iceman' power, or at least the power of cold. Can't wait to see that development!

Great episode. Turned more than a bit X-Men there, but they did it really well.
When I saw the preview initially I thought it looked a bit cheesey but I loved the story lines. Love Parkman, who basically turned into a nasty character. While the once mysterious and dislikable Company Man is now wholly an appealing character.
So in that episode Suresh, Claire, future Hiro, LT & Micha, Company Man and obviously Pitrelli ( the pres) have died in that future!
Sort it out Hiro!

When Peter saved Claire at Homecoming, he prevented Sylar from being able to absorb her powers. This means Hiro can still kill him in NYC before the bomb/Peter goes off leading to the future that we were shown.
Don't forget that the Haitian brought Claire to the Petrelli mansion once HRG gave her into his hands to keep her safe from his own company. I wonder how she ended up back in Texas and in touch with HRG again tho, considering Mama Petrelli was gonna ship her off to Paris.....and where is Mama Petrelli in the future??? On the same note, where is Linderman??? Hiro's dad???
I was a little shocked to see that Nikki & Peter were together - what an odd pairing and I wonder how she will figure into the finale.
And now I suppose we can see what the point of having camo chick show up in that one episode was - so we can understand how Sylar could disguise himself as Peter....
What do you think is gonna happen next week with Sylar apparently heading home to his mom and the intro of the new hero, the little girl who's apparently the only one who can stop him? (At least that seems to be what the preview was saying...)
All I know is this - it was the Best. Episode. Ever.

Sylar was never the bomb, Peter was. Nathan lied to cover up for Peter. In Future Hiro's past, he attempted to kill Sylar in an effort to stop the bomb, but Sylar regenerated because in that past he had killed Claire. Peter has now saved Claire, which should theoretically allow Sylar to be killed. But that shouldn't stop the bomb, because it was Peter all along. Ted's gotta figure into this somehow...
Lots of questions from this one, to be sure. Exactly when did Sylar kill Nathan and supplant him? Future Hiro told HRG he wanted help from DL, Candice, and Molly Walker, as he brought them to HRG. Sylar manifested both DLs and Candice's ability - is HRG in league with Sylar? Was his work compromised? Or is Future Hiro in league with Sylar/Linderman? What ability could Molly Walker posess that would make her the only one who can stop Sylar? (She was the little girl Matt found in Episode 2 if your memory needs a refresher). How could Nathan/Linderman have convinced/blackmailed Peter to blow up the city?
Micah (sp?) seems dead in this future. As does DL (as evidenced by Sylar earlier).
I'm curious how Peter got that scar as well - a heated confrontation with Future Hiro, perhaps? Maybe Hiro froze time after Peter got cut? Who knows...it was neat to see the scar after the reference from way back in the early part of the season.
I'm confused as to why Sylar would continue the masquerade as Nathan for so long...he spoke of "eliminating the competition" when he confronted Peter at the end of the episode. It seems after he killed Claire that he was satisified with the abilities he had, but I'm not sure what he would gain from quarantining the other Heroes for so long. Neat twist though.
I loved the blurring of the "good guys" and "bad guys" in this episode. Matt has taken a turn for the worse but is technically a good guy as part of Homeland Security. Hiro is considered a terrorist. Peter tried to save the world, but blew up half of NYC. HRG was helping refugees with abiliites after hunting people with abilities for so long. Very cool touches.
Peter is a badass.

No no no - we want Sylar to be killed before he can take more powers.
Also, I'm not inclined that way, but Peter sure was sexy in this episode.

Hmm... well I knew Peter was the bomb... and didn't mention any where that Sylar was the bomb.
What confused me was that Sylar is still alive, implying that he took Claire's regenerating power. If he did this... how was Claire still alive in the most recent episode, which takes place in the future?
As for Sylar continuing to take on Nathan's identity, I think it's because it makes it a whole lot easier for him to come into contact with heroes and take their powers, since he has a team of men in homeland security out there specifically tracking them down and capturing them for him.

Sylar doesn't "steal" or "take" powers, he learns them. He takes the person apart and learns how they work. He was a clockmaker and has to know how things tick.
They didn't specify that Sylar didn't learn her powers either. If he dissected her and learned her powers Claire would then regenerate once he is done. Every other Hero would die once he cuts their head open, not Claire or Peter, they would regenerate. Once he is done learning from Claire she will come back to life unless he leaves something inside he that continues to keep her dead (like the stump or broken glass in past episodes).

Didn't he say something when killing her about "waiting a long time to do this".
My assumption is that Hiro never killed Sylar. He never regenerated because Hiro failed to kill him.

If that's the case then why did Sylar cut her head open again in the future. If he already had her power what would the point be in getting it again?

He didn't that's the first time, in that stream of events that has occured. So in the future he's indestructible, but not the past. Hence Hiro can go back and undo it all.

If that's the first time, then why did Hiro travel back in time to tell Peter to save the cheerleader?
To me, Claire being alive in the future makes no sense. She should be dead since in the past Hiro could not kill Sylar because he had taken Claire's power, meaning that Sylar killed her at homecoming and took her power. That's why future Hiro travelled back in time and told Peter to save the cheerleader, preventing Sylar from getting her power. That way Sylar wouldn't be able to regenerate when Hiro stabs him with the sword. So in future-Hiro universe, Sylar must have Claire's power already.
If HalifaxDrunk's theory that he did take her power at homecoming but then she regenerated is correct, then why would he steal her power again? He would already have had it.
