But I'm with you. Konecny would be a great addition to the team
Technically, Tkachuk was playing on his off-wing, but he is a good enough player that he can be equally effective on either side.

Is Philly looking for a prime aged d-man right now? Aren't they trying to move one out? Isn't Philly rebuilding? Their forward corps minus Konecny is pretty horrendous.

A third team involved? Toronto?

Having Tkachuk on his off wing was a major issue in the playoffs. It made matchups against that line much easier in the playoffs. You could hem in Gaudreau physically. Then, Tkachuk's ability to block the puck with his body was limited as he crashed the net from the right side. Tkachuk was also less able to pull off wrap around plays.

I suspect they are being offered 3rd round pick at best.
Which if they think Wolf is ready, I would take.

There's really no need to trade him unless they need the cap space. Wolf is free to move up and down because of his waiver exemption. So it's actually better to let Vladar sit on the bench as a backup and have Wolf play a semi full schedule in the A and then 10-15 games with the Flames when they can squeeze him oin.

Draft picks are beans, better to take a reclamation project or a player with some upside in return.

Picks are like money, you can use them to trade for players

It’s not that whether Wolf is ready but also can they trust Markstrom

Apparently they are not sure on both if they are not trading Vladar

I would take a third too, given what the market appears to be.

That’s a good point. I think Craig also mentioned he doesn’t want Wolf moving up and playing once a month. This way he can keep playing big minutes in AHL and stick his toe into the NHL gradually.

Do we even have enough cap space to activate Kylington and ice a team, or does someone absolutely need to be traded?

Was he not counted against the cap last year?

As of right now with close to minimum contract roster fillers they would be fine to ice a team with Kylington.

Activating Kylington, sending Oesterle to the minors, bringing up Pelletier/Coronato/Duehr leaves the Flames with 711k in cap space and only Dennis Gilbert as a scratch. Waive Vladar and call up Wolf and the Flames get another few hundred K (1.05 mil).

It’s tight.

Still want Konecny on this team, and hopefully they can use Hanifin as the way to get him.

It makes too much sense.

Big hole at top line RW
The guy lives here in the off season
Philly is rebuilding
Hanifin wants out anyways

Konecny > Toffoli
Plus with Sharangovich, forward group starts to look a lot better IMO

Getting in 20-30 starts while being a full time member of the team, getting in NHL reps, learning to be a pro, is just as important or even more important than getting in more starts in the AHL

The Flames aren’t gonna get Konecny. The Flyers are in tear down mode and are gonna want futures for him. The Flames aren’t in a position to be trading futures

Ehhh seems kind of like arguing semantics. If a player can play RW and score 50 goals and 100 points, they’re a top line RW.
