Please do go on, your rants about dealing with the CRA are legendary.

I dont like to make it too public, but at the moment I have a client who is suing CRA.

You know why its funny and sad at the same time?

She worked her way through the system as a Government employee in various different departments and agencies, getting every benefit and grant under the sun, now she makes ~$170K and 'they' want some of their money back for the subsidies they provided her.

Oh yes...but the fact is, she disagrees with that and now is suing CRA. Well...CRA is not responsible for any of those subsidies or grants, thats all Service Canada, completely separate branch.

CRA arent even the ones responsible for trying to collect from her, its all Service, so I have no idea what she's doing. I have no authorization to represent anyone or answer any questions with anything regarding Service Canada, just Revenue.

But its okay. She doesnt have to worry about her legal fees because her Union takes care of that.

Because she works for CRA.

Interesting opinion piece on the scope of potential inquiries.

Quote:
Canada is almost certainly headed toward some kind of inquiry into foreign interference in its democracy.

But if its focus is solely on China or Russia and other state actors, it won’t be tackling the potentially far more troubling forces that proved so disruptive to Canada during last year’s convoy protest.

Is the country ready to take that dark dive into foreign interference — the non-China variety?
Quote:
Michael Kempa is a criminology professor at the University of Ottawa who closely watched the convoy protest and is now writing a book on who and what was behind it.

“I personally am more worried about the influence of the far right from the United States and elsewhere,” Kempa says flatly when I ask him about foreign interference. “Which is not to say, I don’t think that there’s nothing to worry about with the efforts of the Chinese government to corrupt our system, or Iran, or Russia.”

Kempa thinks it’s a good thing the Canadian political conversation has become seized with foreign interference over the past few months, but he also believes it’s been far too narrowly focused only on questions surrounding China.

“But there are all manner of non-state entities that are seeking to influence our electoral outcomes,”
Quote:
It remains to be seen how large an inquiry or an investigation is being negotiated among the government and opposition parties right now. Back in the winter, when Katie Telford, the prime minister’s chief of staff, was asked about the prospects of an inquiry, she said that much revolved around what question(s) an inquiry would have to address.

There’s a real danger, in other words, of making an inquiry so large that it will only skim the surface of foreign meddling in Canada’s democracy.

Kempa believes there’s a way to do an inquiry that would get at the questions he’s pursuing in his convoy research and forthcoming book.

“The way to do it would be to focus on the entry points of foreign interference,” he explains. “Instead of saying, ‘what are all the forms of foreign interference out there?’ you say, ‘where is the Canadian system targeted?’” For instance, he said, take a hard look at who and what is trying to fiddle with nominations at any political level — whether that’s state actors like China or Russia, or non-state players like we saw during the convoy.

It seems highly unlikely that his deputy minister and assistant deputy minister knew, that his political staff knew, that they all knew months ahead of time and only informed the minister as the transfer was happening. Either someone is lying and Mendicino knew, or the government wants us to believe that the department charged with running prisons, overseeing the border and defending Canada against terrorist attacks is utterly incompetent.

Neither option looks good on the government.

Mendicino has caused enough problems for this government — mishandling of the convoy, the firearms legislation and foreign interference — that in previous governments he would have been fired by now.
Definitely seems fishy. Everyone knew except Mendicino? Probably just more damage control, or worse, incompetence.

I actually think he looks like much less of a dick without the glasses - they were kind of doing a "Guy Pierce in LA Confidential" thing to him. Of course, then he tends to speak, so we're back to square one.

He just needs nicer glasses. Something modern with a bit of style. Maybe some Tom Fords.

I’d vote for someone wearing Tom Fords.

I’d even forgive the weird tan.

Was gonna mention the weird tan too, there is what appears to be a big smudge on his forehead (his right side). Just go get some sun bruh.

Not being a swarmy ######bag is his path to victory. They've clearly updated his look to try to get away from that. Now it just depends if he can manage to avoid when speaking like Corsi says.

It's just funny how obvious it is that he's been carefully repackaged along very specific presentation lines... He's wearing the same thing in basically every appearance in the last week. "No glasses, blue blazer over a crewneck shirt, every single day all the time. No exceptions. We're doing everything we can to make you look like a real human person."

etc etc etc... it's so... contrived.

This is the "East Coast Pierre" he needs to be casual, enjoy donairs, maybe play some crib and for damn sure attend a kitchen party. I am surprised he is not holding a fiddle in the promo shots in order to "fit in" as one of them.

He just needs this guys endorsement and he is a shoo-in

NSFW!
