He’s a solid player. But he’s more Rowdy Tellez tbh than his dad. Which is a crazy thing to be thinking of after 21. Vlads scuffles are the biggest thing hurting this offense. We have a bunch of underperformances on offence all across the board. But when your “superstar” 1B is at sub 1 WAR at the midway point of the season when he should be at 2-3 well that’s a big issue. Add in Springer, Kirk, Chapman and others it’s not helping.

We’re actually decent vs Tampa and NY but are utterly hopeless against the Sox and Orioles.

1.5 games out of playoff spot. Still time to go on a run but the clock is ticking!

Good thing about losing to the Sox is they’re not really our completion so losing games to them is not as big a deal as to the Yanks for example. Still worrying though.

According to this article, he was at 93mph consistently and hit 95mph. https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/blue-ja...outing/sn-amp/

Strikeouts against minor leaguers isn’t a metric that we should put much stock into. Watching some of the highlights, his command is still a bit shaky and even some of the strike calls seemed rather generous. He threw 45 strikes and 32 balls which isn’t bad.

The Jays should stay patient until he has really locked in the stuff that he learned down in the lab. I think at least 3-4 more minor starts would be good.

The team is just too streaky. It's not like it is any one thing either. Pitching, hitting, Fielding have all seen catastrophic failures for extended periods.

I think you try and get an absolute haul for Chapman and come back next year.

I've been on this bandwagon for awhile. Both Chapman and Kiermeier. I doubt they want to send that message at all but this team doesn't have it - it truly doesn't. I really can't understand pro sports in the sense of not being honest with what you have. Certainly there's pressure to get playoff revenue, but if you truly don't have that IT factor, or in this case consistency, it would be nice if they had an honest internal conversation to retool for next year. Fans would still support which is the nice luxury to have.

I’d trade Vladdy too. It’s clear he isn’t going to be elite. Get something for him like pitching.

I dunno man. That's a tough one. Dominican's have this natural talent. Further, we know he has the raw talent, and would be willing to commit to Toronto. Each day that goes by shows me he's not elite but the fact is he's still in the top third of the leagues' 1B (statistics would probably prove otherwise in this terrible season). I think his natural talent can shine through for a very long career, but he has to work with a hitting coach he trusts and respects to correct things. It's a tall order but again, natural talent doesn't grow on trees.

Anyway, the fact he's had a few down years most likely means we can sign him to a major discount. At this point if it's under $25M per season, sounds like a deal to me. Nobody's going to sign him to a long term high price deal after the past few seasons he's put together.

I'm not looking to move him... but he's also not untouchable anymore.

Hopefully one of Ryu or Monoah can come back and have some decent starts.

A quote that scares me "He's fired up". That's what seems to get him in trouble he gets too worked up.

Bo gets a 3-0 count and swings at 2 balls well out of the strike zone. The baseball IQ of this team is incredibly low.
