Is it too ambitious to try and schedule a rapid arena? I suspect most people would like the correspondence games more, but just throwing it out there

I actually think in many ways a rapid arena would be more fun, but the trick is finding a time that works for enough people. If we can figure that piece out, I think a rapid tourney would be awesome.

I’d give that a shot! Maybe the best way to do it is pick a time a week or two out and just see who can play?

I think that’s the way to do it. Even if we get about 4-5 players that would be pretty good and I think they only take 60 minutes or so to complete.

Thought you might all be enjoying the summer weather instead of playing chess! I’m up for a blitz or rapid tourney. Maybe pick a time on a Saturday once a month. Also happy for another daily tournament when everyone is ready.
A while back I shared my first ever smothered mate. Here is my 2nd that happened 30 games later with black and using the Caro! Haven’t had another since. Anyone with any other fun mates to share? Would love to see an O-O-O, en passant, or under promotion mate.

			Smothered mate:https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/...false&move=014
I have also checkmated with a pawn a few times—this one was amusing because the king was forced out of hiding and then mated on the wrong side of the board with a pawn move:

Have any of you checked out the “Rosen Score” website? This one is kind of fun, and does work to track some of your fun achievements.

En passant discovered check to win the queen:

He resigned rather than play on, but it was a nice finish to an otherwise kind of sloppy game.

Well done IM! Is that rapid or blitz?
I just had a first. First win for my opponent detected cheating. Has this happened to anyone before?

If anyone’s interested, the podcast Everything Everywhere Daily had an episode on the Spassky-Fisher world championship matches in 1972. I listen to a lot of podcasts and Everything is my favourite.

Do you mean that the system detected cheating for your opponent after they beat you? I've never seen anything like that before. I thought I might have run into a cheater, but couldn't tell if they were just a better player working their way up the ranks. They moved with great accuracy and nearly no thinking time which is not usual at my level in rapid games. I decided not to report, but maybe I should have?

I also pulled off my first 100% accuracy game! (fine print: both my opponent and I played one move and then they abandoned)

It happened previously where I received a message an opponent was caught cheating and I was getting the rating points back but this one actually happened during the game. Was like 8 moves into a pretty standard opening when the game ended saying white detected cheating, black is victorious. Suspect my opponent had the engine or opening database open on another tab.

I've never had one stopped for cheating in the middle, no. Had a few where the opponent was banned later and I got points back. Had one recently where I won the game and a look at his profile seemed perfectly normal, so I don't know if it was a one-off in some other game or they were sandbagging or something else.
I have only reported somebody once, as they were pretty blatant about it. They managed to trap my queen out of nowhere which, in itself, didn't necessarily mean they were cheating, but they were also consistently taking 5-6 seconds for every single move, whether it was a difficult one or not. So I looked at their profile, and they were winning every single game with well over 90% accuracy, with the exception of a couple losses to extremely low rated players. I reported it and kept checking back every day or so to see them continuing to win every game with massive accuracy as they blew way past my rating. A week or two later, they were banned, sure enough.
