Using Florida as an example is dumb they didn't go into the offseason looking to offload Weegar and Huberdeau they got bailed out by pure luck that Tkachuk was available and Calgary was looking to retool.
Tkachuk also had Florida on his list.

This post needs to be copy and pasted. You simply CANNOT build a team like this. It's insanity in the current NHL, absolute insanity.

I think we can agree if you are betting $6000 to win $100 that is not making a killing at anything.

Didn't miss a single thing. Not going to quote anymore of your posts that show you contradict yourself and derail this thread further.
This is the Lindholm thread. If the team isn't going to fully rebuild they're going to try to remain competitive for a playoff spot. I hope the signing gets done, he's going to be a very good player for quite a few years yet, even if he's in his 30's. Still lots of gas left in that tank as an excellent good two-way player.

Some people can be negative, or objective because it draws attention to themselves. Are they interested in the actual conversation or are they stringing some people along? One can get a lot of reactions through antagonizing responses.

LOL yes you did, you quote the post you said it.
I actually said we can't be sure they would be 4th because there are other factors involved just that they would be 4th heading into the season, so it appears you can't read either. LOL

There's a first for everything
(yes, I think most fans would be fine with a full rebuild, but it ain't happening)

With a better powerplay and some better goaltending we are probably in the top 3 in the division.

This is why I think we should wait before we add any major pieces, as we might still be able to do something about it. Putting our eggs in one basket for this group may be short lived and difficult to fix down the road.
I do believe we can have a good or great season.

Tough not to improve the OT record as well.
7-0-17. Ouch.

How are we adding any more major pieces with the cap issues we have? As well as Conroy saying that we aren't going to be moving futures?

I'm confused about your post. We don't have the cap to add major pieces, that is not in the cards. Our options are to sign the crap out of our 2024 UFA's and "go for it" with a lesser team than last season and the season before that, or to make trades for younger prospects/players.
We don't have the cap to sign our core and add to it. We have the cap to sign our core and subtract from it.

Assuming we are the healthiest team in the NHL again , that Backlund and Coleman again set career highs in points , that someone can replace Toffolis production , and that Zadorov get 12 goals from D
A lot went wrong in some major areas . But a lot actually went right
Health is the biggest wildcard . Calgary has been extremely healthy the last few seasons.

They don’t necessarily have to be our core a few years from now.

There was talk of interest in Nylander and also signing Lindholm, I hope the Flames stand pat and see what we have before making more commitments to add players.

Adding Nylander almost certainly means losing Hanifin, either in the deal to get him or to free up the cap space to fit him in.
So adding that major piece takes (at least) one major piece out.

But I'm unsure of your point. If we are paying $40mil a year for "not our core" then we are in even deeper trouble than we thought.

Mangiapane Lindholm Huberdeau have more goals in them to give we don't need career years from the mentioned.
Andersson and Weegar have more offence in them and a returning Kylington could explode.
You also have Dube, Pelts, Ruzicka and Coronato who can give some goals.
Health is a factor for all teams.
It's not all doom and gloom.
