Agreed. They’ve already extended enough of a courtesy letting this play out after the draft. I get there is a culture change and they want to do things differently but it’s time to set a deadline and be done with it. A fair offer (from reputable sources has been made) so make a decision one way or another. Time for Conroy to put the pressure on and give them a firm date.

If Conroy calls Elias "just to check in" every day over the summer maybe lindholm will make a decision just to make it stop.

No pressure bud!

I've said it in multiple threads, Lindholm is a good player, but hes not moving the needle on this team and you cant count on him to.

Trade. Him.

Dont let his indecision hold up your plans and progress.

Sorry Lindholm, it sucks that your career earnings arent what you'd like, but the Calgary Flames already have too many ageing vets on long contracts. We cant have Huberdeau, Kadri, Weegar and more...having giant cap hits into their late 30s.

Circumstances and timing. Sucks Lindy...sorry.

The Flames have probably been the healthiest team over the past decade, really. I don't have the numbers to back this up though.

At a certain point, the indecision with respect to what is reportedly around a $72M offer is a no. If he won’t sign for 8 * $9M, he doesn’t want to play for the Flames.

Yeah, now balance that against the key players whose numbers absolutely cratered last year. Several players are almost certain to bounce back to their expected averages.

This is about finding the right contract that satisfies both parties. I am hearing they are actually pretty close and that is probably why Conroy is saying there is no deadline, don't be surprised if this thing gets done this week coming up. Lindholm is definitely interested in coming back.

Yup. Backlund and Zadorov are the only ones that are likely to regress.

Coleman does the same thing every year. Dube is still getting better. 4th line (Lucic, Lewis and Ritchie) scored a whopping 22 goals. The defence may very well improve. Andersen is getting better, Weagar started off slowly.

None of that inlcludes Huberdeau or Mangiapane. 2 guys who should do better, even if by accident. I don’t see them getting worse.

I, for one, think that this is good news.

That's the part that's confusing.

Lindholm wants to know we are committed to winning but for us to show that he has to sign like you have been identified as our #1 target to keep.

We can't make any moves if you remain unsigned.

Don't see how much the contract can vary at this point

There is a very concrete marketplace value for Lindholm as his comparable have all signed for 8x8.5

8x9 is a slight overpayment and he should know that.

Don't know how else the figures can change. Maybe just conditions attached / bonuses / weighting?

This should've been signed and sealed pre-draft if he is interested.

It's detrimental to the team to be stuck in purgatory without being able to commit to anything or move on to their other UFAs

Thank you for sharing this but this is such disappointing news.

I can't see a deal that makes sense for best parties and there is no way Lindholm is a taking a short term, low salary deal.

Why would you expect him to take a short term and low salary deal?

I don't I said that he specifically wouldn't, but that is the only deal that would make signing him a good thing. Any deal that is 8 year or starts with a number 8 or higher is bad news for Flames fans.

He is doing the Flames a favour by not letting them know they can sign UFA’s today, he is a better player than any player that was available on the UFA market today. Anything to prevent a team from blowing their brains out on a day like today is good.

I doubt it, if he stated he won't resign.

Flames would try to move him, salary out and salary in type of a trade.

Would not change their cap situation in my opinion.
