Ehh DeBrincat is 25. If there was ever an age to give term, it's probably the 24-25 age range.

The Tarasenko 8x7.5 deal about eight years ago was the definition of perfect timing - even as an injury plagued player the Blues managed to squeeze out a cup and then get a 29th overall pick for him as a rental at the end of his deal

I'm okay with the slow approach. Unfortunately we missed out capitalizing on our trades during the past trade deadline or a week or so before this draft.
Best case scenario is to be a bad team with the hopes that guys have a monster season up to trade deadline. If we're bad and pending UFAs are bad, we get poor returns.
If we are good and in the playoff hunt, we're likely not going to trade away players to risk making playoffs.

Surprised that the Flames haven’t even made a depth signing for the AHL yet. There are some decent players available who are young and can compete for a spot. Wouldn’t mind us given them a flyer.
Also Phillips is still a UFA

Low term. Values seem to be still high for the players signed but nothing catastrophic because the players who were free agents were so mediocre this year.
