Flames are already near the bottom in capacity filled

https://www.hockey-reference.com/friv/attendance.cgi

I can’t see it getting better . Imagine being in charge of marketing for this team

There is no face of the franchise to sell tickets , and they are coming off an unsuccessful and boring season

I can’t imagine season ticket renewals were good . Thanks goodness the economy is doing good so should be some oil $$ thrown around

As much as I wish Edwards left the Flames ... why would ANYONE take a GM job without some degree of autonomy. Retain/trade/sign is the province of the GM and his staff. Not the owner. Won't make a bit of diff to Edwards as long as he's given the go-ahead to spend to the cap, how that cap is managed in the short term.

Come on now, that is only because of the massive press level...they have good attendance, near 18k average

Man this board has reached a new level with of depressing recently. I’m encouraged by Conroy’s work recently. Trade seems good compared to others we’ve seen. Draft was good. Not rushing deals that would be underwhelming even compared to just having them back as rentals. Don’t want him to give away good players for nothing.

Did Murray or one of the other owners do something to you in the past? You sound like a jealous ex who found out your wife or gf had a relationship with one of the owners back in the day or something. You constantly #### on them because of scuttlebutt you've heard? They might not be the best owners, they're far from the worst though.

Calm down. The Flames have retained salary exactly one time for less than $250K since the tool became available. All I've heard is Edwards doesn't like to pay for players not to play for him.

If you want to white knight some billionaire owner, go ahead.

I agree with you but also agree the upcoming season is likely to be very boring.
These 2 things can both be true.

The Penguins are one of many clubs that have checked in with the Flames about Hanifin, and the feeling in Pittsburgh is there are not enough assets to make a deal work — even if Hanifin would be interested in signing an extension in Pittsburgh, as he is.

Capacity filled is such a useless stat to use in the context you are using it. One, every rink is a different size, so actual attendance is really all that matters from that perspective.

Then, most importantly, ticket prices matter. One thing to draw 18K fans paying full pop, it’s another to draw 18k selling half the tickets for $10.

Flames have the 6th lowest tickets prices in the league / affordability rating

So we can’t fill the stadium with very cheap tickets .

Hey man, I think it's great that we have different opinions on this forum. I'm not going to mock people who differ from me.

Have a great Canada Day dude.

Read that FCI article. Some made up index on “non premium tickets and some food”. That doesn’t paint the picture of cost of tickets. It’s how affordable can a game be if you buy non premium tickets. It says nothing about what % of tickets are non premium, which is key.

Not going to white knight a billionaire. Just relaying what our resident insider has posted to the forum.

Wake the #### up Flames fans. This isn’t sutter, this isn’t the GM.

This is your ####ing meddling billionaire owner. Who only cares about money and money only. He could careless about if we stop showing up. He will sell the team and he has all the power. He doesn’t give a #### about a product only that it makes money.

Guy sends his #### wagon John Bean out to act all frantic, dodge any meaningful questions because he know we always go away easy. Bean is a money man who makes you pay 2 ####ing dollars for butter when the large bag costs 30 cents to produce and sell for 7 dollars…

Wake up Flames Fans.

That seems more like a rant than actual information.

Penguins sign Ryan Graves, that I imagine is the defenceman that they'll run with.
