Other than Lindholm trade, what other trade did he win?

I’ll say Lucic trade, but that was to correct his mistake.

highly doubt these last few moves are on Tre, pretty sure Shanahan has his hand in these.
still brutal and even though i liked him, i would have rioted if Tre was here and did this.

Not sure he excelled at RFA contracts and trades either. The Tkachuk RFA contract was terrible and his trades were a real mixed bag. The Hamonic trade was in the top 5 worst trades in franchise history, and many of his deadline trades were a complete waste of picks to add depth to already deep positions.
But yes, free agency and spending way too much on 4th liners and 5-6-7 defensemen was his worst attribute.

I’m starting to think Murray wasn’t the main issue with the team over the last few years

Treliving once again over valuing bottom 6 players.
1.3 or 150 is still critical for the Leafs

not going to derail the thread, but I think most of the bigger trades were fine. Even the Tkachuk trade in isolation was fantastic. Sure, the last season has skewed that, but at the time, Tre was rightly hailed for getting Huberdeau, Weegar, Schwindt and a 1st for a forward who made it clear he wasn't going to re-sign. We can debate everything that followed, but the trade haul itself was impressive and I also think that Huberdeau will rebound. Weegar will be a cornerstone for years.
The Hamonic trade was terrible and I hated the Monahan trade to sign Kadri from the minute it happened. Also blew too many picks on deadline acquisitions, so the more I think about it, I wouldn't actually put "trades" in the win column. RFA contracts were super strong though. I keep laughing at those Lindholm and Hanifin deals.

I mean, that's still true, regardless of what you think of his abilities as a manager. He's a genuinely high quality human being. I think back on the way he handled the Bill Peters thing, and later, the Kylington thing with tremendous class and high ethical standards.

Yikes. If you're Auston, does this kind of signing really motivate you to take less than you're actually worth?

Why would he take less?
Prime of his career time to cash in. Word is he also wants a 3-4 year deal as well.
I hope he asks for the max.

People still making excuses for the guy? I can't imagine Shanahan is making any of these moves as Treliving left the Flames because of owner meddling. The two contracts he handed out this week are 100% Treliving as he's coveted this player for a long time.

Yeah, it's totally unlike Treliving to sign fourth-line forwards to crazy multi-year deals right out of the gate on July 1. Gotta be Shanahan. Lol.

Haha Button just dumping all over this signing and the Leafs for this on TSN's Free Agent Frenzy. "They have massive problems"!

Conroy certainly drafted size this week but all the players were skilled. He didn't offer Lucic a contract so hopefully it's a sign that he's not a fan of enforcers.
