Do you really think that’s the choice Flames management will make?
Other than this past season when Nashville made a late surge to contend for a wildcard spot and still sold at the deadline, I can’t recall an NHL team in a playoff spot selling off players - especially core players - at the trade deadline. And count me skeptical that the Flames will be bold trailblazers if they find themselves facing that choice.

Man Laf would be a good get if the price was right. Hasn’t lived up to his pedigree yet but look at Bennett now that he’s in a good spot, no reason Laf can’t get his career trajectory back on track with a fresh start, he’s only 21 and still almost put up 40 pts last year.

He’s the exact type of player that I would love the flames to target if they’re not going full rebuild. Bring him in for a fresh start with a couple other French Canadians please

I don't think so, but Kakko does play RW.
Both Lafreniere and Kakko are intriguing to me. They obviously haven't been able to put it together for the Rangers, but I feel there's a lot of untapped potential there. Would absolutely love to take a flyer on one of them.
