I have a feeling the Flames will go after Matt Dumba and then trade Noah Hanifin. I can also see them taking a chznce on Duchene or Domi if Backlund and Lincholm leave.

Going to a doubleheader for the local minor league baseball team today after heading out for nine holes this morning. And I have tickets for a matinee of the new Indiana Jones tomorrow. Hockey news will be there when I check online Monday morning when I inevitably wake up like I have to go to work.

Whatever contract offered to Backlund, offer to ROR. Trade Backs. Profit

Would prefer some minor signings to bring in young NHL ready players.
Players like Lias Anderson or like they did with Ben Jones.
Can never have enough depth and I don't think they should be overpaying for free agents at the moment.

I think ROR mentioned he wanted to go to a contender (or ST-Louis). I think most are expecting him to go back to St-Louis.

So, just a thought.
Sign Yamamoto on a cheap deal to play in the bottom six. Hope to create another Glencross type scenario.

He doesn't move the needle. Give a kid that spot or talk to Hathaway.

I think I also read somewhere that O'Reilly is stuck in the mud somewhere.

Well, the Flames could certainly use a right shot scoring winger... and as someone said on Reddit earlier today...
If your team comes in with a little bit of space and a right wing to replace you get SPRONG.

Not suggesting that Yamamoto moves the needle, but wanted to point out that he's younger than Matthew Phillips. Who some people seem enamoured with.

Signing anyone before trading Backlund/Lindholm/Hanifin gives the Flames a worse offer since they’d be in a cap bind. Expect nothing but minor moves from us and then getting a cap dump back in return + good assets for our 2024 UFAs.

That is a bit of a double edge sword. Yes, an early signing can possibly hurt a potential return, but it can also soften the blow of losing a player. It also removes an asset already on the market that might be available for other teams making your player for trade more attractive.

Quick note, Twitter in its infinite wisdom has disabled viewing of tweets if you aren’t a logged in twitter user, meaning many people will no longer be able to view embedded tweets. Something to be mindful of during today’s free agency news being posted.
Also, Twitter appears to be down right now. -_-

I doubt we go big game hunting today but I might see if you could get players to soften the blow from possible losses in the lineup. Possible targets would include:
RW - Josh Bailey, Connor Brown, Brett Connolly
C - JT Comphor, Alex Kerfoot
D - Matt Dumba, Shayne Gostisbehere
I think this is a good time for the Flames to reach into the bargain bin and see if they can find some players that could help. I'd seriously inquire on the following.
RW - Danial Sprong, Christian Fischer
C - Tyson Jost, Colin White, Michael McLeod, Sam Steel
D - Ethan Bear (out for several months), Caleb Jones
