Favourite Alan Arkin movie is Escape from Sobibor. It's about the Jewish uprising at the Nazi death camp. Highly recommend.

I would also submit that Arkin was the best thing about Glengary Glenross

When it came to playing a hilarious 'crotchety old man' there was nobody better!

This sucks. I loved all of the bands he fronted. A huge talent gone.

Hell of a career. I loved how popular he continued to be throughout the decades.

I remember him doing America the Beautiful before a World Series game at Yankee Stadium years ago, and that brought the house down.
You wanted peak New York, you got it.
RIP to Tony

I love how he was able to maintain his career so long.
Even in his 80's I thought his voice was still pretty good, all things considered.

Tony Bennett was also a Nazi fighter. He fought on the eastern front and helped to liberate a concentration camp.

when he was in Calgary a few years ago, a relative told me he dropped all amplification and simply used his voice alone, with a piano accompaniment for a song or two and it was stunning - power, control, nuance, tone - all unamplified. just to show the 'young-uns' how it was done.

One of my favourite Tony Bennett duets. His voice was still silky smooth well into his late career.

in that scene, 33 years ago, Bennett was the first celebrity guest star in Simpsons history to appear as themselves on-screen.
