I think he would be a solid add to Seattle.

Nashville is in a weird spot. Their forwards are not great (but young and cheap). The Defense and goalies are legit. Lots of draft capital for 2024.

That would be a good spot for Lindholm

Kostin is a good player. Skilled and can fight. He’s not some scrub, he’s the sweetener.

We are such a winger heavy team, and sounds like he his being bought out because he is one the issues on the team.

Plus, if you beleive them, they thought about hanging on to Yamamoto but couldn't ultimately make the moves to fit him.

He's a guy I could see getting in on a PTO somewhere and doing enough to make a 1.5M contract.

Yes, his RFA contract won't be that much. Edmonton couldn't afford it though.

Oiler fans used to say he was going to be like Johnny and now he might have to find a PTO lol.

Some of you are under-rating Kostin - he is a good player, and worth doing the deal to get.

They could have offer-sheeted Kostin (assuming he would have been interested), and it probably costs them a 3rd. This way, it costs them a tiny cap hit, which won't pose a problem for them.

And they probably get Kostin a little cheaper, by not offer-sheeting him.

Not "you guess", Kostin actually had value. And the buyout cost was little.

I would 100% bring in Duchene on a reasonable term contract (short, cheap'ish), and then trade Lindholm. I like Duchene, and Lindholm's rumoured terms are terrifying.

Nice GMing here.

Predators will have $11M in dead cap space with Duchene, Johansen, and Turris in the 2024-2025 season.

So would like... half the league, is the problem. At least in theory.

His prior cap hit was 6x3, it's honestly pretty surprising NSH couldn't move him with 1.5 retained. I'd do 4.5x3 for the guy all day long.

EDIT: Wait, it was 8M, so that makes quite a bit more sense. I'd still have tried to move him with 50% retained even just to get it over with in 3 years instead of 6 but that's just me.

Watch Edmonton re-sign Yamamoto now at a lower amount.

This trade does look like it was one buddy doing another a favour. I am not sure what the NHL would do about it though, because I think it is allowed. Part of being a GM is building relationships with other GMs and sometimes working with them. It's not always about trying to pull one over on them.

I know he's got that Oiler stink on him, but I think Yamamoto is the right kind of player for the direction that we apparently want to go here. Low cost, young, fast, and a small chance that he ends up becoming something better. We need guys.

Yeah, and Duchene's availability likely also takes one of the teams that would have been somewhat interested in Lindholm off the trade market too. To me it feels like we'll see a Lindholm extension announced tomorrow.

It would not surprise me to see Colorado see if they can't do a three way reunion between Duchene, the Avs, and Johansen.

If Lindholm was moved I wouldn't mind bringing in Duchene on a short term deal (1-2 years).

He would probably work well with Huberdeau.

Duchene is team poison. Colorado, Ottawa, Nashville. Where is the success? He shows up, team regresses. No thanks.

Yzerman does Holland a favor. Fletcher puts the screws to Risebrough.

We'll see what Treliving and Conroy do.

They are in a rebuild, doesn't matter, its the perfect time to get rid of those contracts.
