Rogers belt tightening?
Bet they drop the colour position altogether and have the PBP guy fly solo.

Geez, even Loubardias wants out.
J/K, wishing him all the best. Why? Because this industry is about one thing. Good people.

Good luck to Lou. Sportsnet firing him as the play by play guy all those years back was a terrible call.

Do I like Peter Loubardias on the radio doing color commentary? Yes, yes I do.
Do I wish him all the best moving forward? Yes, and I hope we see him around broadcasting for a while yet.

I have to think that one of the most enjoyable part of the job is travelling to all the amazing hockey stadiums. It sucks that they now sit behind a monitor instead of going with the team on the road anymore.

Lou is a good guy.
He should do us a solid and take Derek Willis with him.

I'm a big fan of Lou and look forward to what comes next for him. I assume it will be junior hockey related.

His send off makes it sound like it’s his choice and he just wants to move onto something else.
Nothing would shock me though.

One word: Great guy.
I do like lou and his take on games. I can't imagine Wills doing this solo, it would be so painful.

There is no doubting that Loubardias is a very kind person, that has a great knowledge and love of the game.
I did not find that his style and personality worked well for an NHL play by play or color analyst role. The long winded stories took away from the action, his unwillingness to criticize anyone made it hard to give much value on the commentary he made.
I think it is unfortunate that there isn't more money in junior hockey because he would be great in role at that level.
While live NHL games is not for him I do think there will be a great fit for someone who cares as much as he does somewhere, hopefully he is able to find it.

I feel like with his passion, delivery, and style he's much more suited to a longer form media than game colour or intermission panel would allow. Makes the most sense to me that he'd start a YouTube or podcast where he can get in depth and do more engaging stuff

Never understood why we need a person to narrate what we are currently watching. Why not have that for movies? So bizarre.
Gollum grabs ring and says my precious.
William Wallace is currently making a very inspirational speech.
Vincent Vega just blew the head off the poor fella in the backseat, can you believe it! that is some kinda splatter.

Wonder if his past health scare had any influence on the decision.
He seems like a real genuine down to earth guy that loves sports.

You do know he was on the radio, the medium where you aren't watching.

He seemed like a genuinely wonderful human being, and he was one of the most knowledgeable broadcasters around. I will miss him, and I wish him luck.

This is called “described video” and it exists for the visually impaired/blind.
Though, they wouldn’t say “William Wallace is making an inspiring speech”, they’d say “Wallace slows his horse, the soldiers begin to pay attention” or “gollum dives into the pool”, because it’s not for the deaf.
Also:
- sports are fast moving
- many people don’t know who’s on any particular team
- many viewers won’t know the rules
- players can only be heard telling each other to #### off
- tv used to filmed on a shoe
- when it’s done well, it enhances the experience by communicating the emotion of the moment
