Hanifin out for picks then OS Bouchard and watch the team be dismantled.

Rather the Oil match an overpay to not lose him.

That's precisely the goal.
Last two years of the McWindow and they're flying close to the cap. Throw a wrench into the spokes.
Stoke the hatred.

No they're not, they are well beyond the cap. If they didnt LTIRetire Smith and Keith they were way over and they still didnt ice a full roster at times.
They're not 'close to the cap' its so far up their asses its coming out their mouths.

Yet somehow they're "in on Karlsson".
Math must be hard for those shills.

I assumed putting Hanifin out in the same sentence meant you wanted Bouchard in.

I can't see any way they could still get Karlsson now that Yamamoto is gone. The trade was supposed to be something like Karlsson (50% retained) with Yamamoto as the centerpiece going back.

I tried to explain to an Oiler fan a few weeks ago: you need to give away Yamamoto, Kostin, and Foegele, and then sign Bouchard and 5 league-minimum guys, in order to make the cap.
He said: you just wait and see - we'll trade Yamamoto and Campbell, and get a good forward and a defenseman
Okay then.

Or… he hired his son as an Assistant General Manager… lol

Edmonton Oilers General Manager Ken Holland will have his son Brad a little closer to his office in the near future.
On Thursday, the Oilers announced that they’d promoted the younger Holland to an assistant general manager role, after having previously worked in the team’s scouting department.

Nepotism is one of the core pillars of the Oilers. Nothing to see here.

Having to give recently valued assets away for nothing
So soon after thinking they were “a piece or two away”
The delusion that perhaps intensified a couple of years ago the night Woodcroft smugly waited for his opposing coach to congratulate him after winning a series. While being unaware that perhaps the opponents beat themselves
Now they will have a hard time icing a full roster as “the window” begins slamming shut
How the Flames broke the Oilers…..

They'll continue their march to the Stanley cup by losing to the eventual champions for a third time in a row...in the regular season this time. Do away with those pesky playoffs.

Flames players want more than the Flames are willing to pay and get traded for value
"players won't sign in Calgary!"
Oilers forced to give away player (probably their best depth player in the playoffs) because they want more than the Oilers are willing to pay
"Oilers make shrewd move to clear cap space"

Ken Holland is one of the most overrated GM's in NHL history.
He had unlimited resources to work with in Detroit and he was not the mastermind behind those picks they had a one of the best scouting departments especially in Sweden.
Once the cap came in he showed that he is a very flawed GM who gave out terrible contracts to mediocre players.
Bouchard is going to take him to the cleaners.
