Mediocre franchise (NYI) sacrificing their future to maintain mediocrity. So, so stupid.

Better than trading a 1st...
Honestly they need to get under the cap and a 2nd isn't an outrageous price to pay for that

I agree.
The effort and expense these organizations expend to maintain their mediocrity is baffling.

Yep, and it hurts. Spending a 2nd to stay in their spot is just dumb, and speaks to the incompetence of their ability to run their own cap.

Damn, that's a real big price to pay for just one year on the deal. Excited to see what they have planned for it

They sewered themselves with Bo Horvat. What a terrible trade and even worse signing.

2026 2nd. That’s far-future futures. The player drafted there probably won’t be in the NHL (if they make it at all) until 2030, when Barzal is 33 years old. It will be an entirely different team by then.

Flames paid a 1st to lose Monahan. Monahan was coming off a 23 point season, Bailey is coming off a 25 point season.

One thing with the Islanders is they have the elite goalie, and you have one year left with Sorokin at $4M. I spend a 2nd to try to make the most of that TBH.

Monanahan at $6.4 million cost a first so I guess this is about right. Bailey not quite the injury risk and maybe gets you another second at the deadline too.
Man I wish just once the Flames were able to do something like this.

Bailey's cap his is $5 mil but his actual salary this year is $3.5 mil.
Monahan's final year salary was $6 mil.

And Monahan was $6M while Bailey is $5M, on a slightly higher cap

No Way to sugar coat it, trading Monahan with a first was a bad trade.
BT had a bad off season to end all bad off seasons. just awful.
