I thought that's what they would do at 16. But I'm guessing that (in their minds at least) they feel they went BPA over positional need and Honzek was that guy.

Honzek has previously played center and there are rumblings that Vancouver plans to use him at that position this upcoming season.

People are really sleeping on this kids talent. His 1.3 pts/g was very impressive considering the Giants ranked 2nd last in the WHL for goals scored. Additionally he started in a secondary role behind Ostapchuk/Bruce to begin the year and produced at a 1.43 pts/g pace over his last 30 games.

One thing I didn't like about Honzek pre-draft was the fact that he didn't play C. If he can play C without losing offense, I would be positively giddy.

I guess some of you watch prospects all the time, and have an educated opinion. Maybe you're even good at projecting prospects, but then you might consider working as a scout for the NHL.

I personally haven't watched even one game with Honzek. The most I can do is watch scouting reports, highlights, and pretend I know anything about the guy. In the meantime, I wish him well, and hopefully he has a ton of success with the Flames.

I have been fortunate enough to watch Honzek a few times live.
I'm not an evaluator. I don't have the eye for it. But I watch a lot of hockey. At the junior level certain players just stand out.
Guenther, Getzlaf, Stankoeven, Zellweger, Lambert, Malatesta, Zary.
Honzek has his moments like these players do where they are the best player on the ice.

He's a legit prospect in my mind. I would put him ahead of everyone but Coranto and Wolf based on potential in the the Flames system.

People just want to have fun and talk about our favorite teams newest prospect...when the same posters who are negative about everything come here and go on and on with negative takes it gets old

who knows how it works out but there are tons of positives with this player...if you can't see that you are trying not to. Seriously take a look at your post history and evaluate how you spend your time.

When the Flames were struggling this past season, I kind of checked out from watching them and filled the time with a few other hobbies while keeping tabs on the team.

Now that it's off-season, I'm back to being optimistic for the next year and hoping things go well! Excited to see what Conroy can cook up, excited to see what role Iggy will play in the coming years, excited to find out if Huska can turn our coaching luck around, excited to see if Huberdeau can bounce back and if the cloud over the team can lift!

I know very little about Honzek, but I hope he's great and it'll be fun to have another player to check up on to see how he's doing.

Sports is supposed to be entertaining. When I start to find it draining (which I sometimes do, because it's the Flames), it helps to take a step back and remember that life goes on. Call me a bandwagoner or whatever, but I'll stand by this team, whether it's watching every game, or just a handful so I don't get frustrated!

Flames brass having the belief and expectation that he would be gone in the 10-15 pick range is intriguing.

They were that sold on the guy, even though most scouting reports had him 18-20th (with outliers ranging 9th to 30th).

Think it says something. Maybe he would've been gone had there not been some out of left field picks that affected the ones that followed them.

This is the best online community because we don't allow trolls to take over like every other online community (Looking at you HF)

No dominance, new users need to earn a reputation

Often the usual suspects will create new accounts to like their own posts and act like people agree with them (I know, how sad)

It doesn't take long to figure out what a poster is all about, if I misjudged you I apologize
