I'm inclined to think that the Flames are going to run it back for another year now.

I don't expect Hanifin, Lindholm, Backlund to be traded this offseason. There's no point now until next year's trade deadline.

Huberdeau-Lindholm-Sharangovich
Mangiapane-Kadri-Pelletier
Coleman-Backlund-Dube
Coronato-Ruzicka-Phillips

People are fine with trading away a seemingly excellent (as good as can be at his age) young goalie to move up 6-8 spots?

Pretty safe guess they then instantly would not be happy with the player picked 8 or 9th that Wolf was given up for, so….

Like, the Flames love Wolf so much they gave him one start after they were eliminated basically because they were being roasted for being so inflexible on injecting youth. I'm praying that was a Sutter thing and based on Conroy's press conference sounds like it, but if this implied we had a shot a Michkov or somebody else like that? Are the Flames going to give this kid a legit shot here or what?

So anyway yeah, I think you think about it, I guess depending on the pick. Wonder if you could do that trade straight up without the +?
You think about it but every high draft pick can be a Yakupov or Patrick. People forget they’re still kids. I bet this message board can talk about a few things that went sideways in their life 18-23.

I keep my known asset without consideration.

I mean if the value isn't there you probably shouldn't force trades. That does make sense to me.

Just seems very like Flames luck that the one time they need to kickstart a rebuild and have good assets to do so all of a sudden the market evaporates lol

Not this draft. Have you been paying attention to the returns this week. If you are mad they didn’t trade him last deadline then that’s on you, Treliving was never going to do that.

It is a tough one. I do think Wolf will be a terrific goalie and he does give the Flames a bright future in the net.

People- Dustin Wolf might be a bust so trade him.

While they don't realize that a top 5-10 pick has a higher chance of being a bust.

Things seriously went sideways for me in my early 20s. I became a Flames fan.

Imagine this board if they trade Wolf and he goes on to become an elite starter. That would go over well

No it wouldn't be a safe guess at all. It would be a reckless, speculative guess based on nothing. As someone who said they would have moved Wolf for a top 10 pick I would have been happy with any non-Simashev top 10 pick.

I'm not too sure how you make this declaration with any confidence.

Honestly I get why the Flames wouldn't do that. Wolf for one of those picks straight up seems about equal in value and then a + makes no sense. Furthermore, it doesn't really address anything they are trying to do (Hanifin / Lindholm) so isn't really worth exploring more than working the other trades.

Coronato and Marchessault are both listed at 183 lbs right now. There is a reason Coronato's nickname is Bison and it's because he is heavy and strong for his size and would drive his way to the net.

And I doubt Marchessault weighted that at 22 years old. Marchessault was listed at 174 when he was 22 in his first season with Columbus, Pelletier was listed at 170 last season in his first NHL season.

Pelletier is lighter right now for sure but his game is anything but soft. He's tenacious and gritty and that's what people like about him.

Thinking either Pelletier or Coronato play soft games is pretty funny TBH because neither guy plays anything remotely close to "soft" hockey. Writing those guys off as guys who can't play playoff hockey due to their size is a ridiculous take.

No action during round 1 of the draft, doesn't imply nothing is going to in round 2-7 or prior to free agency/after
