Qualifying would have been 3M, 3.1 seems right if he gets 20 goals next year, kind of disappointed we walked him to UFA but we'll see how it turns out.

Should have been 6 years at 2.5 million. Conroy sucks at this...

Yahoo! Welcome to the team!

He’s scoring 30 next year, book it.

SMH
Rebuild pro-move is stapling him to Huberdeau's line and then selling high lol

Just me speculating, but with the speed of the signing I would assume that this is a player the Flames coveted which has me optimistic.

... what? This is awful use of leverage. This walks him to UFA status at his earliest opportunity. You either sign him him to 3+ years or you sign him to a one year deal and maintain his RFA status for next year. Makes no sense.

Gotta say I am not liking the early signs on what the Conroy era will entail.

QO was $2.1M or thereabouts but that just gets you to arbitration. Arbitration would have been a gamble (especially since they would not be going in from a position of a lot of background on the player) and not a very good start as far as relationships go.

3.7% of next year's cap on a guy who could potentially score 20 (or more).

There's nothing to complain about.

glad they've signed him quickly. Can't argue with the term and money either.

He could have got a two year deal in arbitration anyways. If he was willing to sign a one year deal then New Jersey probably doesn't trade him.

I don't know, to me this is a carrot dangling deal good for the Flames and for Santagovich. Perform well and get paid, do poorly and it's cheap journeyman deals after.

Again, we don't know what the opening day roster is going to look like, but this is a good start to a re tool.

Agreed. ~$350K too high. Crippling contract.

Ignore your lying eyes! Wait and see!

Remember: Nonis is in the room with Conroy. There is nothing to fear.

And over a million in cap room. Why sign him to more than you have to?
