You’re pissed because two children in Alberta were named Fuzz in 2022.

You just want to discriminate against people named 'Aaron.'

I remember when my first child was born, that along with the forms you had to fill out, was a separate leaflet that outlined what you couldn't include in your baby's name; things like symbols ($, #) and punctuation(!, ; )... I always wondered why TF that had to be included, but now I know. Le sigh...

That seems a bit harsh. I mean, what happens when you're like - "I want a name nobody else has, I like 'Jackson' but want my own unique spelling" and then you realize that we already had babies in 2022 named:
Jacksen
Jax
Jaxen
Jaxon
Jaxsen
Jaxson
Jaxton
Jaxtyn
Jaxtyn-James
Jaxx
Jaxxon
Jaxxson
Jaxxyn
Jaxyn
And you despaired! But then you realized - wait! Nobody has used "Jax$en" yet! And the government shut you down.
It's hard out there when there are more babies named "Stetson" than "Stephen", more "Jaxon" than "Jason" to find something unique!

Tell me about it... I wanted to name my son $hark!
On a more serious (not really) note, there was a Jaxxon at my youngest's pre-school... She wasn't allowed to play with him.

I don’t know why parents would want unique names to begin with. In the age of everything online being forever, I’d opt for John Smith if you could.

I predict they will go on to many great things.
But wait, seriously? Fuzz as a real name? Weird.

I've had my fair share of Jaxon's or Braxton or virtually any name with an x in it. Typically not as bad as the ayden's - Jayden, Braiden, Kayden, etc., There's one in every class.

Could one name their child Xylophone?
Now that would be unique.
Yeah, you're going to be stuck with Hawaiian on Pizza-Day when you're always last in line!

Looking at the baby names list is always interesting each year: https://www.alberta.ca/top-baby-names.aspx
Someone named their kid Thirdy last year. Also, one poor child in Alberta will have to grow up with the first name Trudeau.
"Mommy why do so many pickup trucks want to 'F Maple Leaf CK' me?"

We need to ship some of these Irish people onto Ice Floes...far too many 'Liams' for any healthy and productive society.

Nobody used the bolded last year. You've got a future as a consultant for celebrities naming their baby.
I'm not creative enough to have come up with that list - those are real names from the 2022 Alberta baby name list.

I wish we could start polls. I’d love to anonymously know if people think
A) Teachers are underpaid
B) Teachers are properly compensated
C) Teachers are overpaid
Personally I oscillate between B and C when you consider the 12 weeks vacation and employer-paid contributions to a DB pension.

I'm only interested in this poll if we overlay the choices with "I make more, less than, or about the same" as a teacher.
Yes, that would be 9 choices, but I think CP can manage it.

Who cares if teachers are or are not overpaid, honestly. Same with doctors and nurses. Yes, costs and all that, but Albertans really gotta wrap their heads around higher taxes for the services they demand. And when you look at weakening quality of these types of jobs, your society ends up getting crappier. See the USA for lower quality education as a good barometer as to what can happen.
So overpay them if we need to, give them the resources to do their job because the debt load spread across the province IMO is worth it.
BUT- teachers need to appreciate and realize what they got. Literally this entire last two days of this thread has literally only been debating a guy who said the time off is not a perk. That’s it. Nobody said anything else, despite the throngs of lefties marching in to defend teachers pride non stop, which was not the discussion at hand and a blunt misread on the criticism/ counter.

When did anyone suggest that teachers didn’t appreciate or realize what they have?
