I stand firm on the belief that the Flames will have at least 1/4 sold during the draft. prospects will get picked, some teams will be unhappy with what’s on the board, and Calgary’s scouts will be eager to grab another pick in the top 32.
I also think Colorado will be using their Newhook picks as ammunition.

Just absolutely hammering the agenda that the Flames aren't going to be able to get additional 1st round picks.

he is 22 and was picked 16th overall
traded for 31 and a 2nd rounder
little different than the older players the Flames are trying to trade

Sure, however is he a top 6 forward or a 3rd liner.
Its unclear, likely the reason why he was traded

Rob Blake says they’re looking for a goalie, only have one under NHL contract.
I know one. Hopefully it gets done.

I don't see how LA does this without moving out more money.
$4.5mm and need 2-3 more bottom pairing blueliners, a couple low end forwards, and a goalie.
They need to move Arvidsson.

Adding salary now would mean that they would get even worse returns on the players they are shopping because then they would be over the cap and seen as a cap crunch.

End of video in the posted tweet has them reporting that Calgary is shopping Zadorov as well. Not sure I've seen this mentioned anywhere here yet.

Something is bugging me about the posts in this thread.
Just because Lindholm hasn’t blindly signed whatever offer is on the table from the Flames does not constitute him moving on. It’s such a fallacy. His #1 priority is himself and his family. The Flames might be a high priority but they’re not #1. It doesn’t mean #### he hasn’t signed something. The Flames and Lindholm are not worried about doing a deal to appease CP. it will or won’t happen because there is a balance of money, team, location and personal wants. It certainly doesn’t make Lindholm a traitor or a bad person for taking his sweet time deciding what’s best for him.

Another thing bugging me is everyone throwing around retention like it’s a standard operating procedure.
Do people understand that these are real dollars? If we retain $2 million on Huberdeau for 8 years that $16 million spent? On top of Sutters $8 million? Potentially another $10-12 million on players who will be ufa next year?
I get that when we’re spending other people’s money it’s easy to be flippant about it. However, this is real money. And the people who are wealthy enough to own the flames didn’t get their wealth because they did things that didn’t make financial sense.
If the owners agree to retain I hope it moves the needle and results in a quicker turnaround than other teams rebuilds retools or whatever the description of the day is.
If they do they’ve stepped up yet again to try and make the team better. If they choose not to I wouldn’t blame them. It’s a business and it’s their money.
Doesn’t make them bad. Doesn’t mean they don’t want the Flames to win.

My guess is now Lindholm will be resigned for about 9.25/yr, we will trade Hanifin for an underwhelming return, and we will acquire Duclair

Now...Hanafin or Zadorov for Duclair, convince Lindholm to stay centering Duclair and Huberdeau for the next 8 years...and we will definitely make the playoffs...
