Kind of like Staples being one of only guys with 1st choice of Josh Morrissey for Norris.

Who cares? The guy won the Trophy....you dont get a bigger Cup if the vote is unanimous or anything.

Because it’s not just a little bit of fun. These things can have actual consequences and should be taken seriously.

Flames fans should know know this better than any fan base given the travesty that happened to Iginla.

The difference is McDiver still won, that vote has no impact what so ever.

Yeah, it didn’t this season, but in future seasons it could. That’s the point.

Enforcing a little bit of integrity should be the minimum to ensure an Iginla situation never happens again.

This same writer didn’t have Matthews or McDavis on his ballot last season either. It’s not his first time doing this.

If everyone whose been given the opportunity to take part in the voting decided to be funny and mess around with their order then all the sudden you've got Campbell winning the vezina.

Then something sought after like these awards loses its shine and the industry will consider these awards a massive joke. Surprised to hear that guy got another chance to vote after doing it the prior year also

Erik Karlsson won the Norris sporting a championship caliber -26.

'These Awards are a Joke' is a ship that has long since sailed.

Plus minus is largely a team stat when you’re that bad.

He had a historic season for a defensman. Scored at the same even strength rate as Connor McDavid. He was more than deserving.

I don't get why McDumbDumb vote had to be unanimous. I find it a bit cringy that the 'media' needs everyone to be in line with their voting. Number of points does not make you an MVP. No doubt Connor is a good player, but if someone has a different opinion they should not be roasted for it. Peer pressure to vote the same way as everyone else is dumb.

Any opportunity to irritate the Oiler Nation fanbase (or even better -- humiliate) must be heartily encouraged.

One must never waver in this sacred duty.

It’s not peer pressure to vote the same.

Mcdavid had the first 150 point season in 30 years. If you think he was only the 5th best player this season then you’re delusional

Well, first off, Hart Memorial Trophy is an annual award given "to the player adjudged to be the most valuable to his team." Not the player who scored most point, they have an award for that. Yeah, without McDiver, Oilers might not making the playoff. But without Tkachuk Florida was not going to make the playoff.

Besides, NHL Award is a joke anyway.

I get the trolling angle and all and it's funny to see Oiler fandom all upset but it should be considered a privilege to vote on these awards and IM it should be taken with some responsibility as we aren't talking about a THN top 50 lists here. These are legitimate player awards.

The guy is/was a tool so won't defend the silly ranking, but one thing is for sure.

Edmonton has made it an almost guarantee that we will never see writers vote results ever again.

Then you shouldnt give the privilege to the Media.

You have some hockey Media guys who are true Pros, but they are a dying breed.

We talk about this almost incessantly, but with a few notable exceptions most Hockey Media make their money by kicking Hornets' Nests, what did you expect?

They get their kicks and their clicks by being contrarian dicks.

Guy did it for attention and he still won.

Where was the outrage when Iginla got ####ed over? That was a bigger controversy IMO. Now media is screaming "change the voting system" and it didn't even change the outcome.

So have Oiler fans started harassing this guy on the internet yet?

Not recognizing Oilers entitlement tends to bring out the worst of an already bad bunch.

Is it possible he just filled out his ballot backwards? We've seen writers screw up these things before.

Even today, Gord Miller admitted that he voted for Eric Staal for the Selke when he meant to vote for Jordan.
