I quite enjoyed Flash last night. Some fun nods to DC characters/actors of the past. Found it way better than Transformers or Fast X recently (which may not be saying much).

$55 M domestic weekend for Flash, significantly worse than Black Adam. Tomorrow is a holiday in the US which will help a little bit, but with little audience interest, not a whole lot. Another DC bomb.

Yeah, and whats going on with the reviews? They are all over the goddamned place.
Some people are saying its the best comic book movie ever and others are saying its among the worst....
Thats a pretty wide swing, you usually ignore the glowing and glowering reviews to try and find the truth, and as I've said a million times, Box Office take is an unreliable metric regarding the quality of a movie.
Its looking like The Flash's release is as much of a boondoggle as its production.

Time to reboot, and tell the origin story again.

Not apropos of Batman, but in regards to The Flash, some are speculating that since they're going to burn the whole DCEU to the ground and start over that people arent interested in becoming invested in this movie.
I dont know if thats the case, I'm thinking its a multitude of factors.

Flash wasn't the only film to underperform at the box office this weekend, Elementals couldn't even pull in $30 mill (pretty good film, saw it with my kids it was alot of fun), and Transformers Rise of the Beasts dropped 67% to only $20 mill. I wonder if this is a case of an oversaturated box office, every week there is a mega movie coming out and people can only go to so many movies.

Interesting that the Flash is doing so badly, yet so many posters on here have seen it. Must be a demographic thing. Maybe Keaton is enough of draw to bring out he 35-55 crowd, but doesn't have much appeal to kids.

It would never happen, but if WB brought back Bale instead I imagine the box office would have been much different.

I think it’s a case of quality movies are excelling. Once with question marks do not.
Even guardians which was good opened poorly because of question marks
Flash the future of DC holds it back
Elemental - Disney has conditioned parents to wait for streaming
Transformers - A mediocre franchise that has been inconsistent combine with inconsistent results
The. You look at the successes this year. Spider verse, Mario, Guardians legs and it’s all built around movies that are well recieced by the public. So I think you can say regardless of the competition good movies will draw box office Budget’s definitely need to be constrained though as the 200+ numbers on some of these make a 500MM movie barely break even.

Prob because of Ezra Miller. He is a pretty awesome actor and was great in this but in real life the guy is just a deplorable.

Well if WB/Disco hitched all their wagons to The Flash...what happens now?
They shouldnt need anymore write-offs...you have to make money to need those.

So whats it at total now?
Remember a few pages back when WB/Disco was leveraging their entire Studio's solvency on the unfathomable profits this film was sure to generate?
Are they slipping beneath the waves now? Booking passage on OceanGate's Titan 2?

Just under $210M worldwide gross - considering the big time budget and marketing it probably needed $700M just to break even so… not good.

Disney films have lost $900 million since Lightyear came out. That doesn't account for any marketing costs.

That’s not factual or at a minimum discounting ancillaries while including all costs.

Still might outperform The Flash.
